ED Holding Support Nurse

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

Day shift: 3x12-Hour (06:45 - 19:15). Every other weekend required.

Job Description

The ED Holding unit has patients located within the Emergency Department who are waiting for an inpatient bed. Nurses in this role will care for patients with various medical/surgical adult diagnoses and may handle PCU level patients as needed. They will float to ED and MedSurg areas as required.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to patients in an emergency holding setting.
• Monitor telemetry patients and manage dysrhythmias.
• Administer medications and manage blood products, peripheral lines, and feeding tubes.
• Perform necessary procedures such as phlebotomy, colostomy care, and tracheostomy management.
• Use advanced respiratory support techniques including CPAP/BiPAP.
• Participate in rapid response teams and emergency interventions.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications are required.
• Experience with telemetry and management of high-acuity patients is preferred.
• Ability to float within various units as necessary.
