Project Manager

This position will serve as a first-level Project Manager accountable for developing, administering, and monitoring parts or components of agency projects. This person will be responsible for assisting in project planning, monitoring the operation of program activities, and supervising project goals and objectives. Responsibilities may include assisting in identifying appropriate resources needed; developing project plans, timelines, and accountabilities; and measuring project outcomes. This role will serve to prepare the agency for the increasing demands related to information technology needs and application and licensure system improvements.

Additional job duties include:

• Monitoring the efficiency and accuracy of our online application processes
• Routine correspondence with applicants and Licensees seeking feedback on our processes and incorporating changes accordingly, where needed
• Identifying and implementing changes to the online application processes as our statute and rules are updated and/or as new technology warrants or dictates
• Identifying improvements to the system and coordinating with ITS and USNEXT (where applicable) on implementation
• Testing system improvements before they are made live and pushed to production
• Coordinating with Team Leads to ensure that system improvements meet both internal and external client needs
• Facilitating and monitoring the implementation of a new data set to our online system that captures the NCEES ID of applicants and Licensees
• Monitoring the licensure verification process that will occur between our system (LARS) and the NCEES system
• Facilitating and monitoring Mississippi's role in hosting the NCEES annual meeting in 2028 or 2029
• Working with the Executive Director on developing/implementing long range IT planning
• Serving with the Executive Director on the State's CIO council
• Monitoring cybersecurity needs for the agency
• Working with the IT technology subcontractor(s)
• Assessing the use of AI in agency processes
• Monitoring web and mobile applicability to ensure ADA compliance
• Updating, revising and converting online forms and other information on the agency website to be ADA compliant, where applicable and reasonably possible or as otherwise needed to follow our rules and regulations
• Maintaining and operating our online system for virtual meetings located in the main conference room
• Assisting the Executive Director with internal data management of board information
• Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director

What you'll need to be successful:

Good communication skills, organizational and time management skills, and good ethical behavior. Experience providing support in fast-paced environments, experience combining strong administrative, communication, and organizational skills. Familiarity with the applicable rules and regulations for engineering and surveying licensure in the State of Mississippi and a willingness to apply the rules upon receiving in-house training.

Preferred Qualifications:

Typically requires a Bachelor's degree and 0-2 years of experience. Agency Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in computer science, technology, or engineering or a related field. Preferably one (1) to three (3) years of experience in a similar role or position.
