Lifeguard

The Lifeguard ensures the safety of the facility patrons by preventing and responding to emergencies. Key responsibilities include general supervision of all activity in pool areas, maintaining a safe environment in pool areas and enforcing all pool rules, regulations, and policies, general cleaning/maintenance of aquatics area, monitoring quality of water in pool, spa, and therapy pool, having a working knowledge of pool, spa, and therapy pool equipment and chemicals, being knowledgeable of all pool programs and events, demonstrating excellent customer service, completing records and reports, participating in in-service trainings, recognizing and responding effectively to emergencies, reporting any irregularities to Aquatics Manager, Director, and/or Manager, demonstrating ability to supervise and control all activity in the pool area so that a safe environment is maintained, and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications include Lifeguard certification, First Aid certification, CPR certification through American Heart Association: BLS or Heartsaver with AED or American Red Cross with AED. Skills and knowledge include thorough knowledge and application of lifeguarding, surveillance, and rescue techniques, ability to perform lifeguarding skills including rescue techniques and swimming techniques, and being a strong swimmer.
