The Role
You will lead the design and development of cloud based financial systems while remaining hands on with architecture and engineering.

• Design and build scalable, cloud native platforms supporting finance and risk functions
• Lead data consolidation initiatives across multiple business areas
• Develop unified data models to improve consistency, lineage, and governance
• Build backend services and APIs to support financial workflows and reporting
• Drive system modernisation and migration to AWS environments
• Partner with stakeholders in finance, accounting, and risk to translate requirements into solutions
• Mentor and support a small team of engineers while contributing technically
• Strengthen engineering practices, delivery processes, and system reliability

Your Skills and Experience

• Strong commercial experience in backend engineering using Java.
• Experience building scalable systems and designing robust architectures
• Strong understanding of data modelling and data platforms, ideally within financial or regulated environments
• Experience working with cloud technologies, particularly AWS
• Full stack exposure, including modern frontend frameworks and API development e.g. React
• Ability to lead and mentor engineers while remaining hands on
• Experience collaborating with non technical stakeholders and translating business needs into technical solutions
• Background in financial systems such as risk, accounting, or reporting is highly beneficial
