Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $16,330 – $17,500
• Location: Waterbury, CT 06706 (Waterbury healthcare jobs, Connecticut locum tenens)
• Setting: Outpatient and inpatient hematology/oncology (hematologist oncologist, oncology physician)
• Schedule: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday; 8:30am – 5:00pm outpatient clinic
• Call: 1:3 ratio; evening call every night and weekend call from Friday 4pm to Monday 7am
• Duration: Approximately 13 weeks (covering maternity leave from September to December 2026)
• Patient Population: Adult and geriatric
• Average Outpatient Volume: 15–16 patients per day
• Average Inpatient Volume (Call/Rounding): 1–5 patients per day
• EMR: EPIC (EPIC EMR experience preferred)

Job Requirements

• Board Certified in Hematology/Oncology (Required)
• Active Connecticut medical license at time of submission (Required)
• BLS certification (Required)
• At least 1 year of experience in hematology/oncology
• Provider must be local (only mileage is reimbursed)
• Self-Query NPDB report required at time of presentation

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive care to adult and geriatric hematology/oncology patients in both outpatient and inpatient settings
• Manage chemotherapy orders, dosing, and toxicity assessments in collaboration with pharmacy and nursing
• Participate in tumor board discussions and multidisciplinary care planning
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests, labs, and imaging to guide treatment decisions
• Prescribe appropriate treatments and supportive care, including oral and IV therapies
• Coordinate care with radiation oncologists, surgeons, and advanced practice providers
• Participate in a 1:3 call schedule, including evening and weekend coverage
• Utilize EPIC for documentation, order entry, and patient management
