Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager

FlexStaff is seeking an EHS Manager for our client, a company that manages and operates power generation facilities in the New York City area. This position is located onsite in Astoria, Queens. Responsibilities include EHS oversight to ensure the department complies with relevant laws and regulations regarding safety, health, and environmental protection. Includes effective implementation of projects, schedules, contracts, and compliance programs to ensure sites are in compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local environmental laws and regulations, as well as corporate policies, goals, targets, and programs. Responsibilities:

• Manage the EHS department
• Ensures compliance with applicable regulations, including USEPA, USCG,

NYSDEC, OSHA, NYC DEP, and FDNY * Undertakes activities to verify and improve environmental and safety compliance

• Prepares regulatory filings, reports, and submittals
• Manages capital and O&M projects
• Interfaces directly with all federal, state, and local regulatory entities
• Works with members of other internal teams and external parties on ongoing

matters and projects as needed * Performs emergency response activities as required, including but not limited to oil/chemical spill response * Oversee site safety program Qualifications: * A Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health, or a related Engineering field plus a minimum of 5 years experience, preferably in utilities, power generation, or heavy manufacturing. * Demonstrated experience in project management, environmental due diligence, regulatory compliance, and safety program management * Demonstrated knowledge of environmental laws and regulations, such as CAA, CWA, RCRA, CERCLA, and OPA90 * Strong project management and communication skills Other Requirements: * Must be able to work overtime and extended hours, including emergency calls during off-hours

• Ability to deal with complex environmental issues is required
• The candidate must be comfortable working in various settings, including

office, laboratory, outside in all seasons and all elements, and in a boiler room during all conditions. This requirement includes sitting, standing, walking for long periods of time, as well as climbing, working at heights, and carrying loads of up to 50 lbs * Out-of-area and overnight travel (at company expense) via air, road, and rail is required to attend necessary training. Travel dates are based on training availability

• Successful applicants must also pass the respirator physical/fit test
• A valid driver's license is required
• Must obtain all necessary New York City Fire Department Certificates of
