Attorney – Litigation Management Position Number: 6670 Responsibilities Provide in‑house counsel services to trial and appellate courts and the Judicial Council. Serve as in‑house counsel on a diverse range of litigation matters covering all legal disciplines. Evaluate, investigate, and respond to government claims. Analyze and evaluate lawsuits, writs, and other litigation‑related matters. Retain and actively manage outside counsel in all stages of litigation, determine legal strategy, and attend depositions, mediations, hearings, and trials as appropriate. Review and revise pleadings and court filings as necessary. Assist in resolving cases and prepare and present settlement recommendations. Communicate with judicial officers, court executives, court employees, and judicial‑branch executives about claims, litigation, and risk management. Conduct legal research and analysis and provide legal advice and opinions. Provide risk‑management advice as appropriate. Prepare reports on litigation, government claims, and the Litigation Management Program. Perform additional responsibilities as needed, including assistance to other Legal Services units in labor and employment, legal opinions, transactions, and real‑estate matters. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Juris Doctor and at least three years of relevant post‑bar legal experience as a practicing attorney. Experience as a law clerk to a federal judge before admission to the State Bar is considered qualifying experience. Licensing and Certifications Current active membership with the State Bar of California prior to hire. Desirable Qualifications Extensive experience in general litigation. Experience in multiple legal disciplines. Significant experience with legal research, writing, analysis, and drafting opinions, guides, correspondence, memorandums, and reports. Experience in or with the public sector. Skills Excellent critical thinking, problem‑solving capabilities, and judgment. Superior communication, interpersonal, diplomacy, and public‑speaking skills. Ability to present issues and advocate positions clearly, concisely, and logically. Capability to manage workloads, coordinate deadlines, and prioritize competing demands. Strong team‑player and autonomous work ethic with a positive and enthusiastic attitude. Active listening and consideration of diverse viewpoints. Consensus building and conflict resolution skills. Effective relationship‑building with stakeholders. Compensation and Benefits Salary Range: $13,383.00 – $16,058.00 per month.
