FY27: Data Analyst I – Department of Management and Budget Job duration: 8 hrs/12 months Wage range: $34.32 - $50.62 per hour Link to benefits: Summary Description Under the direction of the Director of Management and Budget, the Finance Data Analyst performs complex financial and data analysis to support budgeting, forecasting, and decision‑making across the organization. The analyst collects, interprets, and presents financial data to identify trends, improve transparency, and enhance operational and strategic planning. This role serves as a key resource for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial information within multiple systems and for developing tools that strengthen fiscal management. Collaboration with other departments, including the Department of Human Resources and Talent Management, Payroll, and other areas within Finance, is essential for resolving discrepancies. Physical demands include sustained operation of keyboard devices. Special requirements include the ability to work outside of normal duty hours and manage multiple projects with tight deadlines. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Strong analytical and quantitative reasoning skills with the ability to interpret and synthesize complex data sets. Deep understanding of position management, salary budgeting, and Full‑time Equivalent (FTE) control principles. Knowledge of accounting, budgeting, auditing, and financial reporting practices. Proficiency in data visualization and dashboard creation for clear communication of position and financial data. Excellent problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, and commitment to data integrity. Effective collaboration across Finance, HR, and Payroll functions. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present and explain technical data concepts to non‑technical stakeholders. Capability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines during budget and staffing cycles. Knowledge of office procedures, practices, and equipment. Understanding of data synthesis techniques and technology solutions that assist DMB in daily operations. Excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills. Demonstrated ability to meet the seven core competencies of the Supporting Services Professional Growth System (SSPGS). Education, Training and Experience Associate’s degree in Information Management Systems, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related fields preferred. Three years of experience in data analysis, financial analysis, budgeting, or accounting, preferably in an educational or public sector setting.
