We're looking for a Maintenance Mechanic II with strong troubleshooting skills, hands-on technical expertise, and a proactive approach to facility maintenance. In this role, you'll play a key part in maintaining a safe, efficient, and welcoming environment—where your expertise truly makes a difference every day.This position will be primarily based at Leland House in Waltham, with occasional responsibilities and scheduled coverage at Golda Meir House in Newton, based on operational needs.Essential Job FunctionsRespond to work orders and perform general mechanical tasks, including electrical, plumbing, heating, appliance repairs, groundskeeping and snow and ice removals.Execute preventive maintenance and routine engineering checks in mechanical and boiler roomsPrepare vacant apartments for new residentsPerform unit inspections in tandem with Resident Service Teams to ensure building/unit integrity, safety, and complianceMaintain an inventory management system for all equipment and toolsResponsible for pest control inspection and follow-up treatmentMust be available to respond when assigned to evening, weekend, and holiday emergency coverageReport any accident, injury, or safety concerns to the Director of Facilities/Executive Director (ED) and complete incident reports immediatelyMay rotate as building mechanic to other 2Life buildingsKnowledge, Skills & AbilitiesMust have at least five years of hands-on experience; Post-secondary technical training preferredKnowledge of OSHA regulations, elevators and high rise building systems preferredHoisting License preferredHigh comfort level with older adults ranging in age from approximately 62 to 102 years of ageValid Massachusetts driver's licenseMust be able to operate hand and power tools safelyWorking Conditions/Physical DemandsAbility to frequently lift and move objects weighing up to 50 poundsRegularly required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, climb, etc. Must have full use of arms, hands, and finger dexterity to reach, lift, pull, push, and feel.Ability to work outdoors in winter conditionsBeyond the Paycheck: Why You'll Love Working Here:We don't just offer a job; we invest in your entire life.
