About the Position

Job Title: RN - OR Circulator Profession: RN Specialty: OR Circulator Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Variable Shift, 4 x 10s, M - F Hours per Shift: 0630 to 1700 or 0830 to 1900, rotating days Experience: One year previous full-time experience in the operating room required License: Current RN license in state of practice required Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required Must-Have: ACLS certification required Description: This position assists surgeons and anesthesiologists and coordinates the flow of equipment, supplies, and staff during surgical procedures. It assures patient safety throughout the perioperative phase of care. This role participates in patient care planning, assessment, and nursing treatment. The RN is competent to circulate in the operating room during surgical procedures. They are knowledgeable of and consistently apply the principles of aseptic technique. They are competent to safely operate all equipment routinely utilized in the operating room. Additionally, they prepare patients for surgery, including safe and appropriate anatomical positioning. The RN performs pre, intra, and post-procedure patient care planning and assessment following established criteria. They safely handle and dispose of biohazardous materials from operative procedures. The RN accesses information systems to retrieve and utilize pertinent information for patient care or job-related responsibilities. They demonstrate knowledge and skills related to patient safety, security, emergency preparedness, and control of hazardous materials. Documentation includes temperature of tissue/allografts, verification of package integrity, and delivery to the sterile field as per manufacturers' guidelines. They efficiently use downtime for job-related or unit-specific work, including chart auditing, cleaning, restocking, and training. Other job-related duties may be assigned as needed.
