Medical Coder - Cardiology

Primary Responsibilities: Review provider documentation and medical records to assign appropriate diagnosis and procedure codes Abstract and code professional fee services for non-invasive cardiology procedures, including but not limited to: Stress testing (exercise and pharmacologic) Stress echocardiography Transthoracic echocardiograms (TTE) Transesophageal echocardiograms (TEE) Apply correct CPT, ICD-10-CM, HCPCS, and modifier assignments according to coding guidelines and payer requirements Ensure documentation supports the procedures billed Identify documentation deficiencies and communicate with providers to obtain clarification when necessary Work coding edits, claim denials, and audit findings to support accurate reimbursement Maintain productivity and quality standards established by the organization Stay current with coding regulations, payer updates, National Correct Coding Initiative (NCCI) edits, and cardiology coding guidelines Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Strong knowledge of CPT, ICD-10-CM, HCPCS, and modifier usage Thorough understanding of professional fee coding principles Knowledge of cardiology terminology, anatomy, physiology, and non-invasive diagnostic testing Ability to interpret complex medical documentation and apply coding guidelines accurately Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) and coding software applications What are the reasons to consider working for UnitedHealth Group? The hourly pay for this role will range from $20 - $36 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
