Job Description
Registered Nurse (RN) - Cardiac Telemetry

The focus of this position is on delivering outstanding patient care within the cardiac telemetry unit. The role entails managing patients with various cardiac conditions and executing specialized procedures under the cardiology specialty.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver patient-centered care on the cardiac floor, focusing on assessing and managing patients experiencing cardiac events.
• Perform sheath removal and interpretation of dysrhythmias.
• Manage post-myocardial infarction (MI) care and pre/post cardiac catheterization.
• Administer and titrate cardiac drips as per protocol.
• Utilize equipment such as chest tubes, external CPAP/BIPAP, and non-invasive airway management devices.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams using effective communication strategies including SBAR documentation.

• Carotid Stenosis
• Venous Stasis

Special Procedures/Unit Details:

• Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG)
• Valve Replacements (AVR, MVR)
• Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR)
• Watchman Procedure (LAAO)
• Video-Assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery (VATS)
• Carotid Endarterectomy
• Femoropopliteal Bypass Surgery
• Other vascular and cardiac surgeries

Required Skills/Certifications/Experience:

• Minimum of 2 years of experience on the cardiac floor.
• Traveler experience is preferred unless the candidate has over 24 months of cardiac experience.
• Skills in Cardiac Telemetry, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown, sheath management, and dysrhythmia management.
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS required.

Preferred Skills/Certifications/Experience:

• Experience in arterial line management, wound care/wound vac, and charge nursing.

Work Schedule:

This position primarily requires night shifts of 36 hours per week. The staff is expected to rotate based on unit needs and is required to work 4 weekends over a 4-week period. Flexibility is allowed.

Additional Requirements:

All contract staff may be assigned to a Storm Team or Hurricane Team, and are expected to report to work during catastrophic events or disasters. Candidates should be prepared for potential reassignment mid-contract based on unit needs.

Orientation and Equipment:

• Unit Orientation: 24 hours
• Special Equipment: Arterial lines, Dopplers, bladders scanners, EKG monitors, chest tubes, and pacing wires.

Scrubs: Navy

Interview Process:

All candidates will undergo an interview and are required to pass EKG testing prior to starting in this specialty.
