Job Title: Clinical Research Coordinator II - Cancer Center Department: CANCER CENTER/Clinical Trials Office Hiring Pay Scale: $38.74 - $56.43 / Hour Worksite: Moores Cancer Center Appointment Type: Career Appointment Percent: 100% Union: RX Contract Total Openings: 4 Work Schedule: Days, 8-Hour Shifts, Monday-Friday Overview The Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) II at the Moores Cancer Center coordinates and oversees start‑up procedures, implementation, recruitment, screening, enrollment, and maintenance of subjects for multiple phase I‑III research studies. The role involves creating recruitment materials, acting as liaison with other UCSD departments, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulatory guidelines, overseeing data quality, providing guidance to investigators, and working closely with regulatory officials. Responsibilities Plan, develop, and implement start‑up procedures for assigned disease teams. Coordinate recruitment, screening, enrollment, and follow‑up of study subjects. Create informational and recruitment materials and serve as liaison with other departments and agencies. Ensure compliance with institutional and federal regulations and oversee the quality of clinical data. Provide direction, guidance, and education to investigators and the general public. Assist principal investigators with proposal development, progress reports, and manuscripts. Develop and implement policies and procedures for assigned disease teams. Maintain communication with federal and state regulatory officials. Minimum Qualifications Six years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor’s degree in a related area plus two years of related experience/training. Demonstrated experience in clinical trials research, including experimental protocol design and evaluation. Experience with research protocol start‑up procedures such as study feasibility, activation, IRB processes, and qualification procedures. Experience performing clinical research duties in CROs, academic research institutions, or research hospitals. Experience providing work direction and assisting supervisors in maintaining an efficient medical research team. Strong knowledge of investigational oncology protocols (data management, query resolution, protocol design, implementation). Experience screening patients for eligibility, initiating treatment plans, collecting specimens, and orienting participating physicians. Proficiency in completing case report forms via hard copy and online. Ability to develop creative solutions and establish useful resources and contacts. Distinguish independently handled items versus those requiring supervisor attention. Working knowledge of medical and scientific terminology. Proven problem‑solving and conflict‑resolution skills. Excellent organizational and prioritization abilities in a dynamic environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including accurate typing and professional phone etiquette. Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office, web browsing, and Internet searches. Demonstrated administrative experience and independent judgment in coordinating complex activities. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in a social or basic science (e.g., Biology, Microbiology). Clinical Research Coordinator Certificate. Fluency in English and at least one of: Spanish, Korean, Vietnamese, Mandarin, or Cantonese. Knowledge of cost accounting, medical billing, and collections guidelines.
