Surface Materials is looking for a sales professional who wants more than another sales job.

This is an opportunity to take ownership of an established Connecticut, Western MA, Albany & Vermont territory, develop relationships with some of the region's leading architects, interior designers, contractors and commercial clients, and build a long-term career with a company that has been serving the design community since 1976.

You will represent a portfolio of commercial interior finish products including wallcoverings, digital surfaces, wood, acoustics, architectural wall panels, laminates, wall protection and specialty materials.

These are products you can be proud to walk into an architecture or design firm and present.

What Success Looks Like

During your first year, we want you to become the person our customers think of when they need help finding the right interior finish solution.

You will learn the market, build relationships with existing customers, open new accounts, uncover projects and work with designers from the early stages of a project through specification and sale.

Success isn't sitting behind a desk waiting for leads.

It's getting into the market, meeting people, asking questions, presenting great products, following up and steadily building a territory that becomes more valuable every year.

What You'll Be Doing

You'll spend most of your time in the market developing relationships with architects, interior designers and other commercial decision-makers throughout Connecticut, Western MA, Albany & Vermont.

You'll manage existing accounts while actively developing new ones, conduct face-to-face sales calls and product presentations, maintain design libraries, identify upcoming projects, generate specifications and opportunities, follow projects through the sales cycle, and maintain accurate customer and project information in our CRM.

You'll have goals and accountabilitybut you'll also have the autonomy to manage your territory and build your business.

Who We're Looking For

We're less interested in finding someone who checks every box than finding someone with the personality and drive to succeed in outside sales.

You may already have experience in architectural products, commercial interiors, flooring, furniture, building materials or the A&D community.

Or you may be a successful salesperson from another industry who is ready for something more entrepreneurial.

What matters most is that you:

• Enjoy meeting people and building long-term relationships.
• Are comfortable walking through a door and starting a conversation.
• Are competitive, organized and persistent about follow-up.
• Can work independently without needing someone to structure every hour of your day.
• Want your income to grow as your results grow.
• Are comfortable presenting products and ideas to professionals.
• Have a valid driver's license, reliable vehicle and the ability to travel throughout the territory.

B2B sales experience is preferred, but talent, work ethic and the ability to build relationships matter more to us than having the perfect rsum.
