DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- The Assistant Principal consistently places students at the center of their work. They actively engage with families and the community to create an inclusive and supportive educational environment.
- Assists and/or establishes the development of the master schedule for instructional programs, instructional assignments, and planning for the sequential learning experiences of students consistent with the school's philosophy, mission, and instructional goals.
- Collaborates, coordinates, and assists in developing and improving instructional programs within the school.
- Assists in defining and disseminating information concerning school disciplinary policies and procedures to parents, students, staff, and the community.
- Provides mentoring to staff and provides direction in their career and professional development.
- Assists staff in understanding building and District policies, procedures, and requirements.
- Assists in recruiting, screening, selecting, assigning, and training new personnel.
- Assists in supervising school activities involving students, teachers, and other school personnel.
- Public relations, communication, and conflict resolution.
- Works with children, staff, parents, administrators, and other educational professionals over parent and student issues and concerns. Interactions require persuasion, instruction, and working with others to gain cooperation and understanding of academic problems/needs.
- Directly supervises Teachers, Deans, and Counselors, and Social Workers.
- Indirectly supervises Building administrative assistants and Paraprofessionals.
- Has responsibility for the overall direction, coordination, evaluation, and supervision of employees in accordance with School District policies and applicable laws.
- Interviews, hires, and trains employees; plans, assigns, directs work; appraises performance; rewards and disciplines employees; addresses complaints and resolves problems.
- Supervises and evaluates teachers and departments in collaboration with the Building Principal.
- Conducts teacher observations and formal performance evaluations.
- Delegation of authority, including assigning tasks so they can be accomplished in a timely and appropriate manner, utilizing subordinates appropriately, and following up on work tasks.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Curriculum, instruction, learning principles, concepts, theories, approaches, techniques, trends, and State, federal, and local requirements and standards.
- Management theory, principles, and techniques.
- District administrative policies, procedures, and standards.
- Fundamentals of school finance and budgeting.
- Understanding school laws, rules, and regulations, including special education and due process.
- Human relation concepts, principles, and techniques.
- Principles, techniques, and best practices relevant to staff evaluation, coaching, and staff development of certified and non-certified staff.
- Fundamentals of curriculum development, research, and evaluation principles.
- Information collection includes gathering facts and data, seeking knowledge of policies, rules, laws, precedents, and practices, managing data flow, and classifying and organizing information for decision-making and monitoring outcomes.
- Planning, coordinating, and implementing educational programs and educational programs.
- Observing, evaluating, mentoring, and supervising instructional personnel.
- Problem analysis and solving skills, including analyzing information, framing issues and identifying causes, seeking additional information, framing and reframing possible solutions, demonstrating conceptual flexibility, and assisting others in forming opinions.
- Organizational oversight includes scheduling work, appropriately using resources to meet goals, scheduling activity flow, and monitoring procedures to regulate activities and project deadlines.
- Planning, formulating, and implementing building-level programs, activities, and services consistent with District directives and policies.
- Directly supervises Teachers, Deans, Counselors, and Social Workers.

- Master's Degree.
- Multilingual or Spanish preferred.
- Minimum of three (3) years administrative experience supervising instructional programming and staff.
