Design Engineer Control Systems

SUMMARYThe Design Engineer with a Control Systems emphasis is responsible for the core design of machine control systems and electronics architecture. Focus will be on development of IQAN programming for machine control and system diagnostics. This person is responsible for analyzing and providing realistic recommendations on electrical components to ensure that the design meets the project goals, machine requirements, and customer needs. Responsibilities will extend into modeling of electrical harnesses and schematics. Combination of technical skills, problem solving, and strong mechanical aptitude is required for this job.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESDevelop IQAN software for machine control systems and displaysEvaluate electrical systems, products, components and applicationsSchedule, execute, and oversee testing of product designAnalyze production and machine/field issues and create solutionsDevelop test plans/logic to improve on machine troubleshootingPerform and organize product updatesModeling of schematics and electrical harnesses.Develop bill of materialsFollow safe design practices to prevent user injury and property damageDevelop, maintain, and review parts books/operations manuals of manufactured productTravel up to 10% of the timeSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESThis job has no supervisory responsibilities.EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCEBachelors degree with a major in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Agricultural, Electrical, Software Engineering or Computer Science. An associate’s degree from a two-year college/technical school with sufficient combination of education or experience is also accepted. Experience required in software development using Parker IQAN, C, C++, or similar PLC/logic-based programming languages. Understanding of robotics, automation, CAN J1939 Protocols, sensors, engines, and hydraulic controls preferred.CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONNoneCOMMUNICATION SKILLSAbility to read, write and comprehend documents and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information to internal and external individuals and groups.MATHEMATICAL SKILLSAbility to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.COMPUTER SKILLSExperience required in software development using Parker IQAN, C, C++, or similar PLC/logic-based programming languages. Proficiency in operating computer aided software design programs, AutoCAD, 3D parametric modeling (CREO) preferred, as well as Microsoft Office products including, but not limited to, Excel and Word.ADDITIONAL SKILLSAbility to identify the root cause of failed or defective parts and recommend and implement product design solutions. Ability to create robust designs, identify changes early in the design process and to recognize design commonality, creating cost efficient product designs. Ability to produce accurate, professional and error-free documents in a timely manner. Strong knowledge in electronics, sensors, and DC electrical circuits preferred. Ability to operate heavy machinery, fork lift, simple mechanics tools and wrenches, assembly hand tools, and assembly power tools.PHYSICAL DEMANDSThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
