About Austin Oaks Hospital Austin Oaks Hospital (a UHS facility) is an 80-bed psychiatric facility located in South Austin, ten minutes from downtown. It offers a broad spectrum of psychiatric services for adults and adolescents, and provides inpatient and outpatient programs to fit individual needs. Responsibilities The Nurse Manager is the assistant to the DON and is responsible for ensuring coordinated delivery of patient care in accordance with the established standards of care, mental health practice and hospital policy, goals and objectives. The position assists in contributing to the hospital’s philosophy, objectives, educational and Performance & Improvement efforts, while providing supervision of House Supervisors, RNs and MHTs. The Nurse Manager monitors staffing needs on assigned shifts, assists the DON in evaluating, reviewing, designing and implementing hospital training events with respect to all RN/MHT staff, and provides patient care assignment coverage and participation in Treatment Team meetings as needed. Qualifications Education : Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing, currently licensed to practice by the Texas State Board of Nursing. Preferred: BSN. Licensure / Certification : Current Texas State Registered Nurse License; Current CPR or BLS certification; Aggressive Behavior Management training within 90 days of hire date; Qualified Mental Health Provider (QMHP). Experience : Minimum five years of progressive nursing leadership experience in a psychiatric or behavioral health care setting; experience in staff education, education concepts, practices, procedures, and 24‑hour shift staffing experience; thorough knowledge of JCAHO, HCFA, OSHA requirements, and state and federal regulatory requirements.
