HVAC Metal Fab Shop Assistant

Job Description We are seeking a motivated Shop Assistant eager to jumpstart their career in the booming HVAC industry. Core Responsibilities Assist in the fabrication of structural or sheet metal products, lifting, positioning, and removing workpieces from machines to assist in fitting and welding. Follow instructions as given and prioritize duties according to projects on demand. Verify counts and prices on shipments. Load, stack, and transport stock, tools, and work in process by hand or truck. Clean and scrape metal preparatory to fabricating, welding, painting, or shipping, using scraping tools, abrasives, or placing in a solvent bath. Maintain a clean work area, including recycling cardboard and sorting scrap metals. Perform all duties in a safe manner and follow all safety guidelines and policies. Perform other duties as required. Qualifications Must be 21 years of age. Previous sheet metal experience is a plus but we are willing to train the right person. Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driver’s record. The ability to read, write, and follow precise instructions is a must. High school diploma or equivalent. General laborer: able to lift at least 50 lbs. and perform repetitive motions. Familiar with various power tools. Proper use of tape measure is essential. Comfortable climbing tall ladders and working at elevated levels. Basic math skills are required. Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and a strong work ethic. Able to work independently or as an active member of a team. Good interpersonal skills and communication with co‑workers, customers, and vendors. Reliable, clean‑cut, prompt, and a self‑starter; regular attendance is a must. Benefits & Culture Wages range between $18.00 and $25.00 per hour DOE plus incentives and a bonus structure.
