About the Role

The Building Supervisor provides frontline operational leadership for the Marc Healing Center and is responsible for ensuring the facility operates safely, efficiently, and in compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.

This position oversees daily building operations, janitorial services, and kitchen support while directly supervising assigned employees. The Building Supervisor manages schedules and coverage, monitors service quality, addresses employee performance, coordinates vendors, responds to facility requests, and supports the ongoing maintenance and sustainability of the building, including its LEED certification.

The ideal candidate brings strong experience in facilities or property management, vendor coordination, workplace safety, and formal employee supervision, including hiring, coaching, performance management, and accountability.

Key ResponsibilitiesBuilding Operations & Maintenance

• Oversee daily building operations with a focus on safety, sustainability, service quality, and maintaining the building’s LEED certification.
• Perform handyman-level repairs and routine maintenance based on established priorities.
• Conduct periodic building inspections and complete recurring maintenance, including water filter changes, hot water tank flushes, and similar tasks.
• Respond promptly to facility service tickets and accurately document labor time, maintenance activity, and repair costs within the computerized maintenance management system.
• Coordinate repairs with approved contractors when work cannot be completed internally.
• Inform the Facilities Director of significant repairs, recurring concerns, operational risks, and emerging facility needs.
• Maintain accurate online records, documentation, and file retention in accordance with department procedures.
• Support facility upkeep, physical asset moves, relocations, and operational projects at other Compass Health locations as assigned.

Employee Supervision

• Directly supervise assigned janitorial employees and kitchen support operations.
• Assign daily work, establish priorities, and manage employee schedules and coverage.
• Participate in hiring, interviewing, onboarding, and employee training.
• Coach employees, provide regular feedback, and support professional development.
• Conduct performance evaluations and address routine performance or accountability concerns.
• Occasionally provide janitorial or kitchen coverage when operationally necessary.
• Promote a respectful, collaborative, and accountable work environment.

Vendor & Supply Coordination

• Serve as the primary on-site contact for vendors, contractors, and service providers.
• Monitor vendor performance and contract compliance and escalate concerns to the Facilities Director.
• Coordinate service delivery with internal departments, peer supervisors, and external partners.
• Order and approve routine supplies in accordance with established purchasing protocols.
• Ensure purchases follow Compass Health procedures and cost-saving practices.

Safety, Security & Compliance

• Serve as the building’s Safety Officer.
• Enforce emergency response plans and workplace safety protocols in collaboration with the Compass Health Safety Manager and on-site security.
• Coordinate safety audits, employee training, inspections, and compliance reporting.
• Support compliance with OSHA, NFPA, IBC, LEED, the Washington Clean Buildings Act, and other applicable requirements.
• Maintain the building’s badge and parking pass registry, physical key inventory, and access control system.
• Program access badges and complete periodic access and key audits.
• Respond to after-hours and emergency calls and take appropriate action based on the urgency and nature of the situation.
• Maintain compliance with confidentiality requirements, required trainings, applicable laws, and internal policies.

Operational Leadership

• Implement operational priorities through effective work assignment, team supervision, and coordination with other departments.
• Lead cross-functional meetings to communicate updates, coordinate projects, and support continuity of service.
• Exercise sound judgment and discretion in daily building, staffing, safety, and personnel matters within established policies and procedures.

What You BringEducation / Experience / Certifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Facility Management, Business Management, or a related field; equivalent relevant work experience may be considered.
• Four or more years of property or facilities management experience, including direct vendor coordination for sites or buildings exceeding 50,000 square feet.
• Demonstrated experience hiring, interviewing, scheduling, coaching, evaluating, and formally managing a diverse team.
• Working knowledge of IBC, NFPA, and other applicable building codes and regulations.
• Previous supervisory experience in kitchen operations and/or inpatient facilities preferred.
• Food Handler Permit and Certified Food Protection Manager credential required within 90 days of hire; active credentials may be submitted upon hire.
• Valid Washington State Driver’s License, access to a personal vehicle, and current automobile insurance required.

Physical Demands / Work Environment

This position requires regular physical inspection of the building and frequent standing and walking throughout the facility. The employee may periodically lift and move equipment or other items weighing up to 50 pounds.

The employee must be comfortable setting up and ascending or descending ladders up to eight feet in height. Occasional access to the building roof using an access ladder may also be required. The work environment is comparable in noise level to that of a typical public building.
