Job Details: Darien, CT 06820 • Per Diem • Salary Range: $20.00 - $27.00 per hour • Travel: None Job Description Summary The Behavioral Technician will provide clinical skills instruction and behavior reduction protocols based on Applied Behavior Analysis principles. The role involves working with children with Autism and related developmental disabilities in various settings (home, community, clinic, school). Responsibilities include collecting data, assisting with parent training, and operating under a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst’s supervision. Essential Job Functions / Responsibilities Plan and implement intervention strategies using direct therapy, monitoring, and consultation under BCBA supervision. Teach targeted behaviors using techniques such as reward systems, incidental teaching, and pivotal response training. Record and track data from training sessions. Reinforce positive behavior with children on the caseload. Communicate effectively (orally and in writing) with administrators, parents, and community members. Provide accurate documentation of intervention goals and objectives. Facilitate transitions among agencies, programs, and professionals as service provision changes. Identify emergency situations and determine appropriate actions to ensure child safety. Provide direct client care in 1:1 and group settings using intensive teaching and natural environment training arrangements. Follow prescribed behavior skill acquisition and behavior reduction protocols. Collect, record, and summarize data on observable client behavior. Assist with parent and caregiver training in line with individualized treatment and behavior reduction protocols. Effectively communicate with parents and caregivers regarding client progress as instructed by the BCBA. Perform other duties as assigned. All Employees Will Exercise necessary cost control measures. Additional Requirements Physical Requirements Hearing and speaking ability required for telephone communication. Vision necessary for data entry. Reaching required for paper management. Manual dexterity required for operating computer, photocopier, and telephone. Mobility required for visiting photocopier, fax machine, etc. Ability to speak and write English in an understandable manner. Ability to function independently with personal integrity. Flexibility of hours. Psychological Requirements Ability to recognize tasks and perform them independently. Ability to establish responsible and trustworthy rapport with staff by being punctual and providing proper notification for absences. Follow through on assigned tasks. Flexibility to adjust to changing work schedules. Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment under time constraints. Intellectual Requirements Ability to learn all Constellation Kids policies and procedures. Judgment skills in processing telephone calls. Organizational skills necessary to establish task priority and meet deadlines. Ability to operate all aspects of computer, photocopier, and telephone. Ability to understand and follow instructions provided by supervisor in written and oral formats. Ability to read, write, and type. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a human services field from an accredited university AND one year of direct relevant experience working with youth and families requiring behavior management. OR Associate’s degree (60 college credits) AND a minimum of two years of direct relevant experience working with youth and families requiring behavior management.
