As we scale our business and establish a stand-alone entity, we are seeking a versatile, results-driven Controller to lead our financial operations, streamline day-to-day business functions, and partner with leadership on long-term strategy.

Position Summary

The Controller will play a pivotal role in driving organizational performance, managing core financial systems, overseeing administrative and logistical operations, and leading key strategic initiatives. This role requires a unique balance of financial acumen, operational leadership, project management, and team supervision—ideal for an executive who thrives in a dynamic environment and enjoys wearing multiple hats.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management & Compliance

• Accounting Operations: Oversee and enhance the QuickBooks platform to manage financial tracking, invoicing, revenue recognition, expense management, monthly reporting, and tax compliance.
• Banking & Treasury: Manage bank relationships, facilitate the transition/establishment of business accounts, and define corporate signing authority levels.
• Compliance & Legal: Ensure full adherence to local, state, and federal laws, including tax and employment regulations. Secure comprehensive insurance coverage (General Liability, Property, Health, Workers’ Comp).
• Contracts & Structure: Draft, review, and evaluate agreements with clients, OEMs, suppliers, and partners. Collaborate with external tax and legal advisors to review and optimize the corporate structure for liability and tax efficiency.

Operational Support & Administration

• Field Operations Support: Review, verify, and approve weekly timesheets and expense reports for field technicians and employees. Ensure strict adherence to guidelines and accurate job-costing allocation prior to payroll submission.
• Business Logistics: Oversee daily administrative workflows, including invoicing cycles, payroll processing, scheduling, and logistics coordination.
• Executive Support: Prepare high-level reports, presentations, and documents for the Leadership Team. Manage executive meeting logistics, including agenda preparation, minute-taking, and tracking of action items.

Strategic Planning & Execution

• Strategic Partnership: Collaborate closely with the Leadership Team to refine and execute long-term strategic plans aligned with company goals.
• Change Management: Drive organizational change management initiatives, ensuring smooth transitions during the rollout and expansion of the stand-alone entity.
• Cross-Functional Project Leadership: Lead high-impact, cross-functional projects from inception to completion, delivering measurable results on schedule.

Data Analysis & Decision Support

• Performance Reporting: Analyze operational and financial metrics to provide actionable insights for data-driven executive decision-making.
• KPI Tracking: Monitor key company performance metrics and deliver clear progress reports to stakeholders.

Leadership & Communication

• Team Supervision: Directly supervise and mentor the Field Service team, offering continuous professional development, performance guidance, and day-to-day operational support.
• Executive Alignment: Serve as a clear communication bridge between the Leadership Team, Managing Director, and internal/external stakeholders.
• Culture & Events: Foster a positive, collaborative, and accountable workplace culture. Organize and facilitate internal team meetings and external corporate events.

Qualifications & Qualifications

• Experience: 5+ years of experience in financial management, accounting, or operational leadership (experience in field services, technical service, or mid-market stand-alone entities preferred).
• Financial Systems: Deep proficiency in QuickBooks and modern payroll/expense software integration.
• Skills: Strong understanding of corporate finance, GAAP, risk management, labor law compliance, and contract negotiation.
• Project Management: Proven ability to manage cross-functional teams and execute strategic corporate initiatives on tight timelines.
• Leadership: Prior supervisory experience with a track record of developing team members and driving positive organizational culture.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field (CPA or MBA preferred).
