24/7 Crisis Center Therapist - Mobile Outreach & Support

Please note: The salary range above represents this position’s earning potential. The anticipated hiring range for this position will be as follows based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience. Therapist I, Grade 23: $76,742 – $102,178. Therapist II, Grade 24: $80,070 – $118,454. The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is seeking a Therapist I/II to serve in the 24‑hour Crisis Center of Behavioral Health and Crisis Services. This role is essential and requires working with a diverse population of all ages, with experience in inpatient behavioral health, emergency room, residential or group home, or mobile crisis outreach. This position is designated as Essential. The selected candidate will be considered an Essential Employee and must report during general emergencies or liberal leave. Primary responsibilities include: Application of crisis intervention principles and methods in assessment, diagnosis, prevention, psychotherapeutic treatment, and case management of individuals and/or families. Work as a multidisciplinary team member sharing direct service responsibilities with other Crisis Center staff. Serve in Mobile Crisis Outreach Teams, Residential Crisis Services, walk‑in clinical assessments, and telephone crisis work. Conduct mobile crisis outreach, including community outreach, clinical assessments in various settings, and on‑scene support at emergencies. Perform residential duties as needed, such as preparing meals and maintaining therapeutic milieu. Conduct walk‑in assessments with clients of all ages, addressing co‑occurring disorders and complex issues. Manage telephone crisis work, including risk assessment, referrals, information sharing, and coordination with partner agencies. Candidate must successfully complete a pre‑employment background check, medical exam, and drug screening. Therapist I Level: Education: Master’s Degree in clinical or counseling psychology, social work, marriage & family therapy, nursing, or related behavioral science from an accredited institution. Experience: None. Equivalency: None. License Requirement: One of the following Maryland licenses: LMSW, LGPC, or LGMFT. Driver’s License: Valid driver's license from the applicant’s state of residence. Therapist II Level: Education: Master’s Degree in clinical or counseling psychology, social work, marriage & family therapy, nursing, or related behavioral science from an accredited institution. Experience: Two (2) years of professional experience in therapeutic counseling, social work, nursing, or psychology services, pertinent to licensing. Equivalency: None. License Requirement: One of the following Maryland licenses: LCPC, LCMFT, LCADC, LCSW‑C, RN with Psych‑MHNP certification, or Licensed Psychologist. Driver’s License: Valid driver's license from the applicant’s state of residence. Preferred Experience: Crisis intervention or mobile crisis outreach team experience. Inpatient behavioral health setting experience. Emergency department clinical behavioral health assessment experience. Co‑responder experience with law enforcement.
