Job Title: Quality Control Technician

Job Description

The Quality Control Technician performs receiving, in-process, and final inspections to ensure products meet defined quality standards in a manufacturing environment. This role uses precision measuring tools, supports problem-solving and continuous improvement activities, and collaborates closely with cross-functional teams to maintain and enhance product quality and process reliability.

First Shift - 7 AM - 3:30 PM - Monday - Friday - $20-$25/hr, flexible with experience

Responsibilities

  • Perform receiving inspections to verify that incoming materials and components meet specified quality requirements.
  • Conduct in-process inspections during production to ensure parts and assemblies meet dimensional, functional, and visual specifications.
  • Carry out final product inspections and testing to confirm compliance with customer and internal quality standards.
  • Utilize measuring tools and inspection equipment, such as calipers, micrometers, DFT gauges, and go/no-go gauges, to validate dimensional and functional specifications.
  • Interpret and apply information from blueprints, work instructions, procedures, and other technical documentation during inspections.
  • Document inspection results accurately and completely, including non-conformances, using established forms, reports, and digital tools.
  • Conduct First Article Inspections (FAI) and prepare detailed documentation to support product qualification and customer requirements.
  • Monitor production processes and products to ensure quality standards are maintained throughout the manufacturing cycle.
  • Support containment activities by identifying, segregating, and controlling non-conforming products to prevent unintended use or shipment.
  • Assist in processing non-conforming products through root cause analysis, corrective actions, and closure of quality issues.
  • Participate in problem-solving activities and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and manufacturing processes.
  • Collaborate with Purchasing, Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Customer Service, Production Planning, and Logistics teams to address and resolve quality concerns.
  • Support process audits and contribute to maintaining and improving the Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Assist with calibration activities to ensure measuring and test equipment remains accurate and compliant with quality standards.
  • Support and promote safety initiatives by following safe work practices and identifying potential hazards in the manufacturing environment.
  • Operate hand tools and test equipment as required to perform inspections and support production needs.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with company policies, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform other quality-related duties as assigned to support production demands and organizational goals.

Essential Skills

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 2+ years of quality experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience using measurement tools and inspection techniques preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with manufacturing or fabrication experience.
  • Experience working with Quality Management Systems (QMS) preferred.
  • Ability to use measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, DFT gauges, and go/no-go gauges.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, procedures, and technical documentation.
  • Ability to complete required quality documentation accurately and on time.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Basic math and geometry skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to operate hand tools and test equipment safely and effectively.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods while performing inspection and production support activities.
  • Ability to frequently use hands for tasks requiring dexterity and grip.
  • Ability to frequently bend, kneel, and maintain balance, with occasional climbing or repositioning to support production needs.
  • Ability to lift, carry, or move materials up to 50 lbs occasionally, 30 lbs frequently, and 10 lbs consistently.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, hear, and visually assess work to ensure quality, safety, and accuracy in a manufacturing environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with ISO 9001 or similar quality management standards.
  • Background in quality control, quality assurance, or inspection of mechanical parts and assemblies.
  • Familiarity with quality management systems and quality standards in a manufacturing setting.
  • Troubleshooting skills related to product quality and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience inspecting parts and assemblies in a production environment.
  • Comfort working with inspection assembly processes and mechanical inspection tasks.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and collaborate across departments.
  • Strong sense of accountability and performance orientation.
  • Adaptability to changing priorities and production demands in a dynamic environment.

Work Environment

Work is performed in a manufacturing setting that may not be climate-controlled and can include exposure to varying temperatures. The environment involves close interaction with production lines, inspection equipment, and hand tools, requiring consistent attention to detail and adherence to safety procedures. Team members regularly stand and walk for extended periods, frequently use their hands for precise tasks, and may bend, kneel, climb, or reposition as needed to support production and inspection activities. The physical demands are classified as medium work, with lifting requirements up to 50 lbs occasionally, 30 lbs frequently, and 10 lbs consistently. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Millington, MD.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.20 - $31.90/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
