Speech Therapist

Pay : $47.00/hr Incentive Eligible Position : Yes Essential Functions Assess, diagnose, screen, and prevent language, speech, and swallowing disorders. Communicate with the patient, and liaising with their family members, physicians, and teachers to design effective treatment plans. Use tried and tested therapies in combination with new, innovative techniques to provide the best care. Keep up-to-date with advancements in the field by attending conferences, conducting research, and expanding professional and academic networks. Educate patients and their families on speech disorders and available therapies. Take detailed notes on patient history and progress. Provide mentoring and workshops to speech therapy students. Evaluate patient progress and implement changes to therapy programs as required. Skills Abilities Effective oral, written and relationship‑building skills. Ability to complete competency CPR and First Aid. Computer skills and familiarity with database management software. Ability to perform simple mathematical equations, to prioritize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously. Resourcefulness and strong problem‑solving skills. Working Conditions Exposure to distressed patients, families or visitors. Possible exposure to inside environmental conditions. Physical Demands Requires standing, sitting or walking for up to 8 hours or longer per day. The ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Qualifications Master's degree in Speech Therapy or Speech-language Pathology. Relevant license and certification. Experience with certain disorders and age groups may be required. Sound understanding of speech-related disorders and treatments. Willingness to conduct research and travel to conferences.
