VP of Operations- Green Brick Mortgage

Overview The Vice President of Operations must believe in, practice, and initiate all Green Brick Mortgage values set forth in an acronym we call HOME. They must be H onest, O bjective, M ature and E fficient in how they approach their role at Green Brick Mortgage. Green Brick Mortgage is in search of a visionary operations leader who exemplifies excellence and is prepared to both embrace and tackle the challenges associated with the fast-paced buildout of a captive mortgage startup for our builder partners. The position demands a proactive approach to ensuring our business-to-business and business-to-consumer operations excel in efficiency, compliance, quality, and customer satisfaction. Responsibilities Work alongside senior management to develop a dynamic future vision for the Mortgage Operations Department which aligns with the organization’s values and objectives. Foster a continuous improvement focused work environment by developing goals and measurable Key Performance Indicators specific to individual functional roles within Operations. Recruit, hire, manage, and develop qualified, high-performing mortgage fulfillment staff. Provide targeted coaching to staff and promote cross functional skill development across Mortgage Operations teams. Build and monitor third-party vendor relationships to ensure strong communication practices are in place and defined service levels are maintained. Work with senior management to develop dashboard reporting and performance scorecards to closely monitor operational trends and key business results. Serve as a role model for the team by helping lead initiatives that promote a culture of quality and customer service for both our consumer borrowers and builder partners. Promptly address identified process gaps. Develop supporting policy and procedure documentation to streamline operations and enhance productivity. Ensure that all investor guidelines and all federal and state regulatory requirements are met satisfactorily throughout fulfillment. Supervision of Others: Mortgage Fulfillment Staff Authority/Budget/Decision Making/Discretion and Independent Judgment Ability: Utilizes discretion, judgment, and high-level analytical skills to interpret complex situations. Physical Requirements: Ability to stand and walk for 4 hours straight or up to a full 8-hour day; sit for extended periods; kneel and bend at the waist; walk up and down stairs; walk on unlevel terrain; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision ability required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and peripheral vision. Location: Plano Corporate Office Qualifications Education: BS degree in a business-related field (i.e. Finance, Accounting, Real Estate, Business). MBA or other advanced degree preferred. Competencies: Experience leading teams in a performance and matrix-oriented environment with proven compliance and regulatory expertise. Team-oriented work ethic, strong interpersonal skills, ability to quickly build relationships and work well across all levels of an organization. Strong practitioner knowledge of GSE and Government mortgage loan products. Thorough knowledge of mortgage industry regulations, investor guidelines, and compliance requirements. Creative problem solver with strong quantitative, analytical, research, and decision-making skills. Time management and organizational skills with a strong ability to operate under demanding deadlines and multitask on several transactions simultaneously. Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills. Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work independently or in a team environment. Experience: 15+ years of progressive work experience in the Mortgage Banking industry with at least 5-7 years directly managing Fulfillment Operations Teams. Experience working inside of a captive lending or direct to consumer environment preferred.
