New York Times Opinion is seeking a video producer to work on Interesting Times, the podcast hosted by columnist Ross Douthat. Candidates should possess an enthusiasm for heterodox ideas on politics, technology, culture, and religion. You should relish the opportunity to showcase voices in the conservative landscape in sophisticated and surprising ways. This will be a highly collaborative role and will be responsible for a wide range of tasks, primarily: creatively scripting and producing video intros, making original and inventive vertical videos and clips using a variety of media assets, fluency in post-production video editing, researching, and pitching. The formats can vary widely – from long-form interviews to vertical videos – but the constant is the driving curiosity and range that defines Interesting Times. This is an in-office position, based in New York City and includes regular attendance in the office four days each week. There may be some flexibility to work remotely per your departmental guidance. Responsibilities: Scripts, and produces intros, clips, and vertical video essays with multimedia assets (sourcing photo, graphics, and archival audio and video), ensuring proper use and attribution. Assists in strategies to grow audiences and engagement across platforms Directs host and guests in the studio or field Occasionally researches pre-interviews, and helps script full episodes, with guidance from more senior producers and editors Works with editors and senior producers to build a structure for episodes around ideas that are timely and relevant Writes show copy and headlines as needed Supports YouTube thumbnail production Books and schedules guests and recordings as needed You will report to the Executive Producer of Interesting Times. Basic Qualifications: Intellectual omnivore with interests in politics and political culture, and curiosity to explore other topics 5+ years of practical video experience Experience sourcing archival, stills, and graphics Fluency with Adobe Premiere ProExperience with YouTube and social video strategy Experience booking interviews, writing prep documents and interview questions, producing on tight deadlines Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, deadlines, news judgment and time-management Demonstrated success in creating innovative content under pressure Thrives on adapting to a changing media environment Experience working with talent Preferred qualifications: Familiarity with the conservative intellectual and media landscape Experience with longform narrative and ideas-driven interviews Knowledge of the changing social media landscape as it relates to video This position is represented by the NewsGuild of NY.

The annual base pay range for this role is between:$80,952.15 - $90,000 USD
For roles in the U.S., dependent on your role, you may be eligible for variable pay, such as an annual bonus and restricted stock.
