Job Title: Set-Up Technician Job Description
The Set-Up Technician supports manufacturing operations by setting up, operating, and adjusting production machinery to ensure accurate, efficient, and high-quality output. This role focuses on machine operation, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and continuous improvement of line uptime and efficiencies within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
Set up and operate production machinery in a manufacturing environment to ensure accurate and efficient product output.
Conduct machine switch overs, calibrations, and adjustments to support different products and packaging requirements.
Perform minor changes to equipment settings to maintain product quality and adherence to established standards.
Use manuals, job aids, and guidelines to complete preventive maintenance tasks on production equipment.
Perform minor repairs on machinery to minimize downtime and maintain consistent line performance.
Participate in developing and monitoring procedures aimed at improving line uptime and overall operational efficiencies.
Lead or assist with packaging validations to confirm that equipment and processes meet quality and performance requirements.
Support component line trials by setting up equipment, monitoring performance, and documenting results.
Assist with special projects related to process improvements, new equipment, or product introductions.
Troubleshoot mechanical and operational issues on production lines and take corrective actions to restore proper function.
Follow established quality standards and manufacturing guidelines to ensure products meet specifications.
Communicate equipment issues, maintenance needs, and process improvement opportunities to appropriate team members.
Work safely and consistently use required personal protective equipment while performing all tasks.
Essential Skills
High school diploma or GED required.
One year of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand and work with mechanical systems and components.
Hands-on experience with machine operation in a production or manufacturing setting.
Ability to perform machine set up, calibration, and adjustments to support production requirements.
Basic troubleshooting skills for identifying and resolving mechanical and operational issues on equipment.
Capability to perform minor repairs and preventive maintenance on production machinery using manuals and job aids.
Understanding of and commitment to quality standards in a manufacturing environment.
Ability to follow written procedures, guidelines, and safety instructions accurately.
Willingness to work a 48-hour work week and adjust to occasional weekend overtime as needed.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with maintenance activities in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
Exposure to packaging validations, component line trials, or similar process validation activities.
Familiarity with PLC programming concepts is a plus.
Experience participating in continuous improvement efforts focused on line uptime and efficiency.
Strong attention to detail and ability to monitor equipment performance and product quality.
Effective communication skills for collaborating with production, maintenance, and quality teams.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision once trained.
Reliability and strong work ethic appropriate for a high-volume manufacturing environment.

Work Environment
This role is based in a manufacturing facility with one opening on the first shift. The standard schedule is Monday through Thursday from 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., totaling approximately 48 hours per week. Night shift exists but currently has no openings. Some overtime may be required over weekends on Friday and Saturday as business needs arise. The environment involves working around production machinery, performing mechanical adjustments, and maintaining equipment. Personal protective equipment requirements include steel-toe footwear, and no additional certifications or medical clearances are required for this role. The setting is typical of a manufacturing production floor, where employees are expected to follow safety procedures, use PPE consistently, and be comfortable in an industrial environment.
