Senior Tax Accountant

Job DescriptionJob DescriptionAbout the PositionThis is an in-office position located in Wilmington, DE 19808. Candidates will only be considered if they can commute.Our firm is currently seeking self-motivated, detail-oriented individuals to join our growing team. Sparano, Vincelette & Joiner, CPAs is a full-service public accounting firm.ResponsibilitiesThis is a full-time, on-site role based in Wilmington, DE 19808. Candidates should be able to:Efficiently navigate firm software: UltraTax, GoFileRoom, Practice, Checkpoint, CoCounsel, TaxCaddy, QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online.Demonstrate ability to complete various tax and accounting projects, including: 1040, 1065, 1120S, 1120, 990, annual business accounting write-up, and personal property or local returns.Demonstrate logical thinking when recording tax information.Ensure all data needed to comply with filing requirements are collected; identify and communicate with clients regarding missing items to prepare returns.Demonstrate an understanding of basic state taxation issues.Accurately prepare quarterly and annual estimated tax liability calculations.Proactively take part in tax planning for clients.For business returns, demonstrate the ability to follow procedures and identify opportunities for improvement.General understanding of client accounting service projects as needed.Learn and exhibit professional communication skills: with team internally regarding status of projects, asking good questions, participating in meetings; with clients, as appropriate, and as directed by managers or partners.Understand the importance of deadlines by demonstrating time management skills and learning to prioritize engagements.Demonstrate the expertise to supervise the preparation of tax returns.Conduct first review of tax returns and identify basic, complex, and advanced issues through the engagement; raise potential tax issues.Demonstrate the ability to provide quality tax planning to clients that encompasses the client's full business needs.Refine skills, knowledge, and expertise as a specialist in a tax-related technical field and/or industry that we service at our firm.Build strong relationships with clients as a trusted advisor.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Accounting required; CPA license or active CPA candidacy strongly preferred.Prior recent experience in a public accounting firm, preferably at the senior or above level.Compensation & BenefitsWe provide competitive salary plus bonus program as well as an excellent benefits package including:Health, dental and life insurance – We pay 100% of the cost for the employee401(k) with employer match and profit sharing – Safe harbor contribution of 3%, plus 12% profit sharingOutstanding opportunity for professional growthGenerous PTO – Sick, vacation, and comp timePaid professional education, dues, and licensesOpportunity to manage client relationships and work directly with partners in a friendly, hands-on, open-door and collaborative office environment\nCompany DescriptionSparano, Vincelette & Joiner, CPAs is a full-service, local public accounting firm providing individuals, businesses, and non-profit organizations with a broad range of tax, accounting, and advisory services.Our firm is committed to providing a work environment that fosters your professional growth and personal success.
