Respiratory Therapist

UP Health System is seeking a dedicated Respiratory Therapist to join our Healthcare & Medical Services department within our community-focused network of hospitals and clinics in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. As a key member of our patient-centered care team, you will deliver high-quality respiratory care to patients across the lifespan, supporting our mission to provide advanced healthcare services and promote community wellness.
In this role, you will perform comprehensive respiratory assessments, develop and implement individualized care plans, and deliver a full range of respiratory therapies. You will manage invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation, adjust ventilator settings based on clinical status and provider orders, and participate in ventilator weaning and extubation processes. You will administer oxygen therapy, aerosolized medications, bronchodilator and mucolytic treatments, and provide chest physiotherapy and airway clearance techniques to optimize patient outcomes.
The Respiratory Therapist will obtain and interpret arterial blood gases, perform and support pulmonary function testing where applicable, and carefully document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses in the electronic medical record. You will collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and other members of the interdisciplinary team to contribute to care planning, clinical decision making, and safe transitions of care. Participation in rapid response and code blue teams, emergency airway management support, and urgent respiratory interventions is an essential component of this position.
