Lead Electrician

Relocation: Candidates outside the Seattle area will be considered if willing to relocate. Travel: Travel to shipyards, ports, and project sites is required. About the Opportunity: We are seeking an experienced Marine Electrician Lead to join our team in Seattle, WA. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for leading electrical projects involving commercial marine vessels and floating structures. The successful candidate will oversee projects from the proposal stage through installation, testing, commissioning, and completion while ensuring compliance with safety regulations and customer specifications. This role requires a strong technical background in marine electrical systems, leadership experience, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced shipyard environment. Key Responsibilities: Lead marine electrical installation, maintenance, and upgrade projects on commercial vessels and floating structures. Serve as the technical lead throughout project planning, installation, testing, troubleshooting, and final commissioning. Install, troubleshoot, and maintain electrical distribution systems, motor controls, communication systems, hydraulic electrical systems, and marine power systems. Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings. Perform electrical testing, diagnostics, and system commissioning. Design, build, and troubleshoot motor control circuits. Work with 480VAC three-phase electrical distribution systems. Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, Lockout/Tagout procedures, and marine industry safety standards. Mentor and train apprentice electricians while promoting a culture of safety, teamwork, and quality. Travel to ports, shipyards, and customer locations as required. Required Qualifications: Minimum 5 years of experience as a Marine Electrician or Journeyman Electrician working on commercial marine vessels. Experience working in shipyards and marine construction environments. Strong understanding of electrical theory and electrical troubleshooting. Experience with: 480VAC Three-Phase Systems Motor Controls Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) Electrical Distribution Systems Hydraulic and Communication Systems Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and circuit diagrams. Experience performing load calculations, cable sizing, breaker sizing, and applying Ohm's Law. Proficient with multimeters and electrical testing equipment. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Must have or be eligible to obtain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential). Must provide personal hand tools. Preferred Qualifications: Journeyman Electrician License or equivalent experience. Experience leading marine electrical teams. Strong problem-solving and leadership skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects. Primarily based in Seattle, WA. Work performed in shipyards, ports, onboard vessels, and industrial environments.
