Position Principal Manufacturing Engineer

Location: USA, Louisville, KY

How You'll Create Possibilities

Lead Control System Design: Specify and engineer sophisticated control systems for metal stamping presses and related equipment—meeting specifications, budgets, and safety standards.

Own the Technology: Architect, program, and implement PLCs, HMIs, and network configurations—primarily using Rockwell Automation products, with flexibility to integrate Siemens solutions.

Drive Process Excellence: Partner with cross-functional teams to refine manufacturing processes and ensure alignment with industry best practices.

Innovate & Improve: Analyze system performance, recommend improvements, and implement cutting‑edge automation and robotics technologies.

Champion Safety: Conduct machine safety risk assessments and ensure compliance with ANSI, NFPA, and ISO standards.

Mentor & Lead: Provide technical leadership, troubleshoot complex issues, and guide engineering teams to deliver projects on time and at the highest quality.

What You'll Bring to Our Team

• Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a related field or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years of experience in industrial control system design and implementation, with specific expertise in metal stamping applications and automated manufacturing equipment.
• Proven proficiency in Rockwell Automation and Siemens platforms, including PLC programming, HMI development, and network configurations.
• Strong understanding of machine safety standards (e.g., ANSI/RIA R15.06, NFPA 79, ISO 13849) and the ability to apply them to system design.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, adapting to dynamic project demands.
• Proven track record of leading complex projects and delivering results in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
• Solid communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical information to diverse audiences.
• Willingness to travel asrequired, typically ~25%.

Preferred Qualifications

• BS/MS degree in Electrical Engineering
• Experience with assembly line design, automation and customized fabrication equipment and manufacturing processes
• Hands-o n experience in designing and operation of multiple axis automation equipment and/ or robots
• Prior NPI program experience
• Proficient in AutoCAD and MS Project (or equivalent)
