Pharmacy Technician

Wilson Health is looking for a direct hire Pharmacy Technician for our location in Sidney, Ohio (North Dayton, Ohio) area. Employment status: PRN (less than 20 hours on average). Working hours: varied hours per week. Shift: varied shifts based on staffing needs. Position reports to: Director of Pharmacy.

Department description: Wilson Health's Pharmacy Department comprises pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, who undertake a variety of clinical and non-clinical tasks including procuring, compounding and dispensing medicines, along with advising healthcare professionals and patients on safe, effective and quality use of medicines.

Job summary: Pharmacy Technician works under the supervision and direction of a staff pharmacist to perform technical tasks involving proper storage, distribution, and packaging of drugs, that are dispensed to patients and the tasks associated with record keeping, and patient charging.

Essential duties and responsibilities include accurately selecting, labeling, and placing medications in appropriate patient drawer or nursing care area, delivering unit dose medications to patient care areas and/or automated dispensing technology in a timely and efficient manner, accurately preparing IVs using sterile aseptic technique, compounding total parenteral nutrition solutions, large-volume intravenous mixtures, and prepare chemotherapeutic agents, assisting with management of drug stock including shelving new drug stock, arranging stock and organizing storage areas, documenting the need for ordering items, checking for outdates and maintaining proper documentation and record keeping, ensuring that drug items are appropriately billed to proper patient or department in a timely manner, assisting pharmacists in managing incoming telephone calls to ensure proper triage of calls, packaging dry orals, liquid orals and small volume injectables in unit-of-use containers using a combination of mechanical equipment and manual procedures, working at maintaining a good working relationship with all patient care personnel and other departments, assisting other pharmacy technicians, assisting in training and orienting new employees and pharmacy students to the departments services, and rotating through all work areas of the pharmacy intermittently to remain efficient and knowledgeable of all technician tasks.

Qualifications include high school graduate, registered pharmacy technician, and some experience as a hospital based pharmacy technician (preferred).
