This position offers the chance to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment that's constantly evolving.Position SummaryThe Assistant Bakery Manager supports the Bakery Manager in overseeing all aspects of bakery operations, including production, merchandising, sales, food safety, inventory management, and team leadership. This position helps ensure the department delivers high-quality products, exceptional customer service, and a clean, safe, and profitable operation while maintaining company standards.Key ResponsibilitiesAssist in managing daily bakery department operations.Ensure bakery products are prepared, packaged, displayed, and stocked according to company standards.Maintain attractive product presentation and proper signage.Monitor product freshness, quality, and inventory levels.Support production planning to meet customer demand while minimizing shrink.Team LeadershipAssist with training, coaching, and developing bakery associates.Provide direction and support to team members during daily operations.Promote a positive work environment focused on teamwork and customer satisfaction.Serve as manager-on-duty for the department when the Bakery Manager is absent.Assist with performance management and accountability processes.Customer ServiceDeliver outstanding customer service and create a welcoming shopping experience.Resolve customer concerns professionally and promptly.Assist customers with product selection, special orders, and bakery requests.Promote bakery programs, seasonal items, and special promotions.Food Safety and ComplianceEnsure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations.Maintain proper product handling, storage, and rotation procedures.Conduct routine cleanliness and safety inspections within the department.Ensure associates follow company policies and operational procedures.Inventory and Financial ManagementAssist with ordering and inventory control processes.Monitor sales, shrink, and department expenses.Support labor scheduling efforts to align staffing with business needs.Help achieve department sales and profitability goals.QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent required.Previous bakery, food service, retail, or supervisory experience preferred.Strong customer service skills.Basic math and inventory management knowledge.Ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment.Food safety certification may be required based on company policy.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesLeadership and team development skills.Strong organizational and time-management abilities.Effective verbal and written communication skills.Problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.Knowledge of bakery production, merchandising, and food safety practices.Ability to multitask and adapt to changing business demands.Physical RequirementsAbility to stand and walk for extended periods.Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of up to 50 pounds.Ability to work in refrigerated, freezer, and production environments.Frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive hand movements.Flexible availability, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.Success MeasuresAchievement of department sales and profitability goals.High levels of customer satisfaction.Effective inventory management with controlled shrink.Compliance with food safety and sanitation standards.Development and retention of a productive bakery team.Consistent execution of company merchandising and operational standards.We also provide a variety of benefits including:Competitive wages paid weeklyAccess to up to 50% of your earned wages before payday, via our partnership with StreamAssociate discountsHealth and financial well-being benefits for eligible associates (Medical, Dental, 401k and more!)Time off (vacation, holidays, sick pay).
