Assistant Manager Of Retail Operations

The Assistant Manager of Retail Operations is responsible for the daily operation, financial performance, and team leadership of the property's Essentials retail outlet and Mini Bar Program. This position ensures exceptional guest service, operational efficiency, inventory control and revenue optimization across both areas. The Assistant Manager develops and leads team members, drives sales initiatives, maintains compliance with company standards, and supports strategic business objectives.

Recruits, hires, trains, schedules, coaches, and develops retail and mini bar team members.

Establishes performance expectations and measurable goals for team members and supervisors.

Conducts probationary, annual, and ongoing performance evaluations.

Provides coaching, counseling, recognition, and corrective action as necessary.

Leads team meetings and communicates operational priorities, promotions, and service initiatives.

Creates a positive work environment that promotes professional development and employee retention.

Collaborates with centralized scheduling and operations leadership to ensure appropriate staffing levels.

Oversees the daily operations and performance of the Essentials retail outlet and the property's Mini Bar Program, ensuring exceptional guest service, operational efficiency, and revenue growth.

Monitors retail and mini bar sales performance against budget, forecast, and prior-year results, implementing strategies to maximize revenue and profitability.

Maintains a high level of visibility in retail and operational areas, providing leadership and support to team members while ensuring service standards are consistently achieved.

Responds promptly and professionally to guest inquiries, complaints, concerns, and special requests, including issues related to retail purchases and mini bar services.

Maintains proficiency in point-of-sale systems, cash handling procedures, inventory controls, and operational processes to ensure accuracy and efficiency.

Assists team members with transaction corrections, refunds, voids, billing discrepancies, and other escalated guest issues.

Reviews sales, inventory, and consumption trends to identify opportunities for increased revenue, product enhancements, and improved guest satisfaction.

Recommends merchandise assortment changes, seasonal offerings, promotional opportunities, and mini bar product selections based on performance metrics and guest feedback.

Creates and monitors visual merchandising standards, displays, product placement, and planograms are effectively executed to maximize sales and enhance the guest experience.

Monitors inventory levels across retail and mini bar operations, addressing stock shortages, replenishment needs, and inventory discrepancies in a timely manner.

Ensures accurate stocking, replenishment, tracking, and charging procedures for all retail and mini bar products.

Conducts regular inventory audits and operational reviews to ensure inventory integrity, operational compliance, and adherence to internal controls.

Reviews fast-selling merchandise and consumption reports to ensure adequate inventory levels and optimal product availability.

Collaborates with Hotel Operations, Housekeeping, Front Office, Finance, Procurement, and other departments to ensure seamless execution of retail and mini bar services.

Evaluates pricing strategies, product assortments, and merchandising initiatives to maximize guest satisfaction and revenue opportunities.

Develops, implements, and maintains operational procedures that promote efficiency, accountability, inventory accuracy, and consistent service delivery.

Ensures compliance with inventory management procedures, loss prevention standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements.

Identifies opportunities for process improvements and operational enhancements that strengthen financial performance and elevate the overall guest experience.

What You Will Need

Must be 21 years of age.

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.

Three to five years of management experience in retail operations, hospitality, hotel operations, food and beverage, or related business environments preferred.

Experience with retail inventory management, merchandising, revenue generation, and operational controls preferred.

Strong leadership, coaching, employee development, and performance management skills.

Excellent guest service, communication, and conflict resolution abilities.

Demonstrated ability to analyze sales and operational data to drive business decisions.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, point-of-sale systems, inventory management systems, and business reporting tools.

Must present a professional appearance and maintain a high standard of conduct.

Must be available to work flexible schedules, including weekends, holidays, and varying shifts as business needs require.
