Speech Language Pathologist (26-27 SY)

Job Title

The person in this position is under the general supervision of the Special Programs Director and is responsible for diagnosis, development, and/or delivery of appropriate educational therapy for students in grades K-12 with communication disorders.

Qualifications Required

Possess an Oregon license valid for assignment; Ability to meet the Junction City School District Standards of Competent Teacher Performance and the Oregon Standards for Professional Educators; Ability to provide appropriate instruction to students based on diagnosed needs; Ability to organize workload to cover assessment, instruction, conferencing, and IEP writing; Knowledge and understanding of special education law requirements; Demonstrated behavior management techniques; Ability to write, implement, and follow-up on IEPs for specific students receiving special education services in regular, resource, or other settings; Ability to implement District curriculum and state standards; Responsibility to know, understand, and adhere to District policy; Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively and collaboratively with colleagues, support staff, administrators, students, parents, patrons, and agency representatives; Ability to evaluate educational strengths and needs of students significantly behind in communication skills; Ability to determine most appropriate placement for students with communication difficulties, using the appropriate District-approved testing instruments or assessment results; Ability to monitor the progress of students and make any necessary program or placement changes; Ability to provide direction to instructional assistants assigned to assist with student instruction; Ability to professionally communicate with parents and teachers regarding students' learning abilities and needs.
