Graduate Respiratory Therapist (RT) - Adults

***$7,500 Sign-On Bonus available*** ***May be eligible for our Loan Forgiveness program*** Location: Advocate Christ Medical Center (Adults) - 4440 W. 95th St, Oak Lawn Shift: Night Shift (3rd) FTE: 0.6 (Part-Time) Job Profile Summary: Responsible for providing and coordinating comprehensive respiratory care. The Respiratory therapist administers respiratory care procedures and modalities in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures. Using evidence‑based practices, clinical decision making, and skilled communication, the therapist compassionately leads efforts to create the safest patient environment and the best patient experience across the continuum, under the guidance of a licensed respiratory therapist in designated areas per site discretion. Responsibilities Provide and coordinate comprehensive respiratory care, ensuring procedures and modalities meet established standards. Operate specialized ventilators in critical and non‑critical care venues. Assist physicians with bedside or other procedures as applicable. Administer medication treatments and therapies per physician order and/or patient‑driven respiratory protocols. Clean, maintain and troubleshoot equipment, and identify the need for service or repair. Educate patients on purpose, technique, self‑care, goals of therapy, and disease management. Facilitate clinical problem solving and collaborate with other departments for patient management education. Adapt and comply with policies and procedures in various service areas, perform tasks or special duties as required, and maintain performance standards and organizational behaviors. Promote a culture of safety by applying proper safety measures to prevent patient harm, reporting safety events and near misses, and assisting in corrective actions. Demonstrate age‑specific knowledge and skills appropriate to the patient population, assessing and interpreting data relative to age‑specific needs. Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required Respiratory Therapist certification (CRT) issued by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) to be obtained within 45 days. Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA). Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the AHA to be obtained within 0 months unless not required by the department leader. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by the AHA to be obtained within 0 months unless not required. Adult Critical Care Specialist (ACCS) certification issued by the NBRC to be obtained within 0 months unless not required. Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification issued by the AHA/AAP to be obtained within 0 months unless not required. Neonatal/Pediatric Respiratory Specialist (NPS) issued by the NBRC to be obtained within 0 months unless not required. Education Required Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy. Proficient computer skills, use of electronic mail and electronic medical record systems. Excellent written and verbal communication, listening, and interpersonal skills. Time management skills with ability to multitask and prioritize in a frequently interrupted environment. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions Operate all equipment necessary to perform the job. Lift up to 50 lb from knee to waist; occasionally lift 50 lb from floor to waist height. Lift up to 40 lb at waist height and carry across distances. Lift up to 20 lb from waist to overhead. Push/pull using up to 30 lb of force occasionally for long distances. Perform stand‑pivot transfer from bed to chair. Perform sliding transfer of a 150‑lb person on a sheet across 2 feet with a second person. Utilize safe body mechanics at all times.
