Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: PACU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 5 days Hours per Shift: 8 hours Experience: 2 years minimum in related nursing specialty License: RN License in state of TX or compact Certifications: Current BLS certification, Current ACLS certification, Current PALS certification Must-Have: - Critical Care, PreOp, and EPIC experience highly recommended/preferred Description: The competent nurse in a similar clinical setting practices independently. Demonstrates an awareness of all relevant aspects of a situation. Provides routine and complex care. Possesses the ability to develop long-range goals or plans. Continues to develop the ability to cope with and manage contingencies of clinical nursing. Makes appropriate assignments and delegates to other care providers as a means to help manage the clinical situation. Meets expectations of applicable competencies. Consistent with nursing scope and standards of practice, provides nursing care utilizing the nursing process. This includes assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients. Addresses increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families. Uses appropriate protocol to administer medications and treatments. Monitors for side effects and effectiveness of prescribed treatments. Documents patient history, symptoms, medications, and care given. Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, family members, and/or caregivers. Identifies issues and resources. All newly hired experienced RNs must attend orientation within the first 30 days of hire. New hires are precepted by a designated trained staff member. Successful completion of designated organizational entry competency validation is required. Completion of all annual competency verification requirements is expected. Perioperative RN residency or recent practice in an OR/perioperative setting is preferred.
