About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Active RN license required Certifications: BLS and ACLS required Must-Have: Cardiac/telemetry experience and PCU or critical care experience required. Description: The position involves delivering highly individualized care to medical, cardiac, and surgical complex patients requiring intermediate care. Experience with managing conditions such as sepsis, stroke, myocardial infarction, angina, heart failure, and atrial fibrillation is essential. Nurses will perform head-to-toe assessments every six hours and document each assessment thoroughly. Common medications administered on this unit include Dopamine, Dobutrex, Nitro, Heparin, Cardizem, Lidocaine, Milrinone, Amiodarone, Cardene, Labetolol, Insulin, and Precedex. Advanced skills required include IV insertion, chest tube management, tracheostomy experience, central venous catheter management, EKG interpretation, Foley catheter management, and early patient mobility. Procedures performed include Foley placement, IV insertion, wound care management, DKA management, and patient ambulation. The unit values teamwork and has a positive atmosphere with high employee engagement and patient satisfaction ratings. Self-scheduling is available within reason to balance staffing needs, and block scheduling can accommodate night shifts. The technology available includes iMobile devices for communication and documentation, including capturing wound care images directly into patient charts. Resources and experienced staff are present on both day and night shifts to support any questions and foster a collaborative work environment. Working together, the team ensures high-quality care for patients and support for one another.
