Material Handler
Join Amcor as a Forklift Operator, where you'll be responsible for operating forklifts and other material handling equipment to ensure the safe and efficient transport of materials and supplies. This role plays a critical part in maintaining the smooth operation of both warehouse and production environments by accurately receiving, shipping, moving, and storing goods.
Schedule: Shift: 2nd Tuesday - Saturday (4pm - midnight)

What you'll do:
- Operate Forklifts Safely: Load, unload trailers or other delivery vehicles, transporting materials using forklifts, pallet jacks or hand trucks, adhering to safety procedures.
- Follow Company Policies and Procedures: Follow all GMP's, WISA's, safety rules, PPE requirements, and dress codes. Comply with OSHA standards and company policies to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Promote a Culture of Safety and Teamwork: Abide by Amcor Core Values. Set a good example for others and encourage a safe, respectful work environment.
- Inspect Equipment: Perform daily inspections of forklifts to ensure safe and proper operation.
- Shipping and Receiving: Pick, wrap, stage, and print labels (using THOR/RF device) for preparation of all truckload or LTL shipments. Receipt of all incoming truck loads, LTL's and small package (Fed Ex Air/Ground, UPS) freight. Proper documentation and delivery to departments.
- Load Securement: Use shrink wrap, straps or other securing methods to stabilize loads for transport or storage.
- Support Production Areas: Ensure production areas are fully staged with material and supplies (film, pallets, dividers, cores, cartons, etc.). Follow scheduling instructions according to priority lists, schedules, or supervisor instructions. Remove new production, excess supplies (pallets, dividers, cores, etc.) from production areas and properly store.
- Maintain Inventory Accuracy: Ensures materials are received, moved and stored correctly. Consistently follows inventory control procedures, accurately scanning or documenting product movements and helps to identify and report discrepancies.
- Communicate Effectively: Communicate with Logistics Supervisor, Logistics Specialist, area supervisors, co-workers, and truck drivers to ensure smooth operations.
- Report Damages and Safety Hazards: Identify and report damage to property or material, unsafe conditions, or mechanical issues immediately.
- Maintain Clean Work Areas: Keep warehouses and workstations tidy and free from obstacles that could cause accidents. Perform housekeeping duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Maintain Training and Certification: Attend forklift safety training sessions and maintain valid certification.
- Assist with Cycle Counts and Audits: Help with regular inventory counts and warehouse audits to support accurate inventory.
- Assist in General Duties: On occasion, perform duties other than those specifically listed above.
Lead the Pack Preferred qualifications:
- Ability to obtain a valid forklift license (written and driving test).
- Strong attention to detail and safety awareness.
- Ability to be a team player with good communication skills.
- Ability to perform job duties and stay on task, with little to no supervision (depending on shift).
- Ability to use a calculator.
- Computer skills. Ability to learn SAP and use THOR/RF device.
- Willingness to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and all shifts.
- Previous experience in fast paced warehouse or manufacturing setting. 1-3 years preferred.
- High school degree or equivalent.
Physical Requirements
- Good vision and hearing.
- Exposure to loud noises, dust and varying temperatures.
- Wear safety gear: steel-toe shoes, gloves, bump caps, safety glasses, ear plugs, and high visibility vests.
- Climb steps (frequent basis).
- Sit, stand, walk for continuous periods of time.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. (waist level, floor level, frequent basis).
- Ability to push or pull with up to 90 lbs. of force (occasional basis).
- Stoop, kneel or squat (occasional basis).
- Reach forward and side to side (frequent basis).
- Perform elevated work (scissor lift).
- Able to perform repetitive tasks for 8-12 hours.
