Senior System Administrator

Akkodis is looking for a Senior System Administrator/Engineer to support enterprise infrastructure operations and lead NFS storage migration activities as part of an infrastructure stabilization initiative.

Pay rate: $65-75/hr (The pay rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors)

Position: Senior System Administrator/Engineer

Work Location: Owings Mills MD 21117 (3 Days Onsite)

Contract Duration: 5+ month (possibility extend)

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and support Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 6–9) servers across physical and virtual environments.
• Administer and support VMware vSphere/ESXi environments.
• Lead and coordinate NFS storage migrations across multiple application environments.
• Coordinate migration activities with approximately 200 application teams .
• Work directly with application teams to discuss migration options, technical requirements, schedules, and dependencies.
• Execute data migrations according to established schedules.
• Configure and maintain server processes, configurations, backups, and monitoring.
• Support SAN, NAS, RAID, and storage environments.
• Perform Linux security patching, maintenance, release deployments, and infrastructure changes.
• Monitor Linux and VMware platform health, performance, and availability.
• Automate routine processes using Shell scripting and/or Python .
• Maintain accurate server and configuration inventory.
• Assist with physical server installation/racking and data center activities.
• Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation and scheduled after-hours maintenance.
• Collaborate with IT and business stakeholders to maintain highly available and reliable infrastructure services.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field with 7+ years of relevant experience, or 8–9+ years of equivalent IT experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with Red Hat Linux/RHEL administration .
• Strong experience with VMware vSphere/ESXi .
• Experience with NFS, NAS, SAN, RAID, and storage technologies .
• Experience with server or storage migrations .
• Strong communication and stakeholder coordination skills.
• Ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical teams.
• Ability to participate in 24/7 on-call rotation .
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. with assistance for data center activities.
• Ability to travel domestically as needed.
