Overview Herzog Contracting Corp. is now accepting general internship applications. All summer 2026 internship positions have been filled. Internship Focus Areas Accounting (St. Joseph, MO) – Gain experience in financial reporting, budgeting, invoice processing, job costing, and auditing procedures. Ballast Systems Specialist (Nationwide Travel) – Assist with automated systems, equipment troubleshooting, data collection, and routine maintenance for Class I railroads. Creative Services (St. Joseph, MO) – Support in‑house creative team with graphic design, photography, video editing, branding, and marketing content creation. Energy (Nationwide Projects and St. Joseph, MO) – Assist with energy management, power systems, or sustainable infrastructure projects tied to Herzog’s electrification and renewable initiatives. Estimating (St. Joseph, MO) – Assist in quantity take‑offs, bid preparations, vendor coordination, and pricing models for large construction and rail projects. Field Engineers (Nationwide Projects) – Assist with daily operations, project planning, quality control, and field coordination on large‑scale rail construction and infrastructure projects. Proposals (St. Joseph, MO) – Craft compelling business proposals, assist with creative writing, layout design, document formatting, and project storytelling. Quality (Nationwide Projects) – Assist with field inspections, third‑party material testing, and documentation to ensure safety and contract standards. Research & Development (St. Joseph, MO) – Test, improve, and develop cutting‑edge tools and processes used in the rail industry. Safety (Nationwide Projects) – Assist with site inspections, safety audits, incident tracking, and training initiatives. Software (St. Joseph, MO and Fort Worth, TX) – Work on internal software solutions and applications, including programming, system testing, interface design, or data analytics. Specialized Equipment Operator (Nationwide Travel) – Work with specialized railroad equipment operations, basic mechanical maintenance, and jobsite support across the United States. Technical Project Manager (St. Joseph, MO) – Coordinate technology teams and business needs, assist with project coordination, timelines, and documentation. Other Areas (Various Locations) – Herzog considers internship opportunities in other emerging areas of the business. Apply and describe your area of interest. Internship Program Experience Herzog’s internship program is an immersive professional development journey. During the summer, select intern groups will be placed into specialized cohorts based on their discipline and paired with an experienced mentor. The cohorts follow a structured schedule designed to expose interns to Herzog’s core business competencies, introduce them to company culture through interactive Town Halls, and enhance career readiness through soft skill development workshops. Not all internship groups will participate in the full program; Herzog is working toward future development.
