Paralegal

Job Summary

Under general supervision is responsible for assisting Assistant City Attorneys or City Attorney in their course of work by conducting legal research investigating and gathering evidence. Prepares ordinances resolutions contracts and other legal documents. Exercises no supervision.

Qualifications :

• Associates Degree in Paralegal Studies from an accredited college or university; or Associates Degree from an accredited college or university and certificate of completion in a formal course of paralegal study at an accredited educational institute required.
• One (1) year of experience in paralegal work.
• Valid Class C Texas Drivers License. 
• Applicants for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility. Due to CJIS requirements related to system access the following will result in being disqualified for this position: Felony Convictions Felony Deferred Adjudication Class A & B Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication Class B Misdemeanor Convictions an Open Arrest for Any Criminal Offense (Felony or Misdemeanor) and Family Violence Convictions.
