Job TitleThis position is responsible for delivering high-quality customer service by explaining and processing financial services, ensuring accurate recordkeeping, and consistently adhering to all organization policies and procedures. The employee is expected to maintain a positive and respectful attitude, communicate regularly with their supervisor, manage time effectively, prioritize workload efficiently, and report to work prepared and on time. This role requires meeting or exceeding departmental productivity standards, maintaining strict confidentiality regarding SMBT operations and customer information, and actively participating in required staff and departmental meetings, along with performing all other duties as assigned.Essential Duties, Responsibilities, SkillsBuild and maintain customer relations by providing high quality customer serviceAssist customer from start to finish acting as a full relationship managerPerforms normal teller duties dailyInterview customers to obtain information and proactively sell all bank products and services, including but not limited to Checking, Savings, Individual Retirement Accounts, Certificates of Deposits and Savings BondsOpen and close accounts using needs-based techniquesAssist customers with understanding consumer loan options, preparing applications, and completing loan closings in a professional and compliant mannerAssist customers with understanding electronic services, Wealth Management and Commercial/Mortgage loan services and make referrals to these departments when possibleParticipate in outbound calling or business development efforts to support branch goalsSolve branch operations mattersUnderstand and support marketing initiativesMaintain a clean and professional work areaAssist with lobby management and ensure branch appearance standards are metService, audit, and balance drawers, vaults, TCRs, PTM, coin machine and other branch technology within established guidelinesPrepare, verify, and order incoming and outgoing cash shipmentsPrepare and sign cashier's checks, loan checks, and wires within assigned limitsOpen, close and lead the branch during absence of managementDiscuss and process overrides for less experienced tellersMentor/train incoming Tellers/Universal BankersFollow all security, compliance, and regulatory requirementsComplete required bank training, including security, fraud, compliance, and customer serviceQualification RequirementsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and maintain confidentiality and professionalism. An open, willing to assist approach to work is expected along with the ability to work beyond their normal job duties as the situation requires. Interpersonal and problem-solving skills are required. This position will have access to highly confidential information that must be handled in a professional manner.Physical DemandsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
