Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an ICU position requiring 2+ years of ICU experience and NC or compact RN licensure for night shift coverage.

Details

• 16-bed ICU with average daily census of 10
• MICU-type patient population including ARDS, sepsis, COPD, DKA, and stroke cases
• RN staffing ratio of 2:1 for ICU patients and 3:1 for IMC patients
• 12-hour night shift, 1900-0700, 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend (EOW) rotation required
• No on-call or call-back requirements
• Floating required to Med Surg (4:1 ratio) and ED as a resource (no assignment)
• Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and GE monitors
• Unit-specific equipment includes Bair Hugger, Verathon Bladder Scanner, and Blanketrol machine

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
• Minimum 12 months of core ICU experience with most recent experience within the last year
• Skills required include arterial line management, vasoactive medication titration, vent management and weaning, and chest tube management
• At least 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing to MICU-type patients including ventilator, hemodynamic, and multi-system support
• Strong support team including CNAs, charge nurse, resource nurse, phlebotomy, 24/7 RT, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage
• Unit culture includes many newer nurses on nights, so strong, experienced RNs comfortable mentoring are valued
• Royal blue scrub color required
• Free parking available on-site
• Orientation includes facility-wide NEO plus 2 days of departmental orientation
• Travelers will work 75% of holidays
• First-time travelers accepted if they have strong ICU experience
• Must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year if previously in a permanent position there
• Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible; local candidates not accepted
