Job DescriptionLead Engineer, Process Automation Project Team – Des Moines, IA This is a full time, exempt-level position located on-site at our complex in Des Moines, IA.Position DescriptionThe Process Automation Project Team Engineer will provide project support of automation systems to focus on company modernization efforts. Through guidance, specialized automation knowledge, and standard work, they will collaborate with Operations and the Technology Center to execute projects while applying global standards.This individual will proactively seek opportunities for automation to mitigate risk, improve efficiency, and drive optimization within modernization projects. Additionally, they will support and advance the standardization and documentation of automation systems.This position will also provide high-level technical support to automation colleagues at the plant level to serve as subject matter experts on the various process control platforms utilized by ADM. Position RequirementsUnderstands and is accountable for full compliance with safety and other EHS requirementsMaintain a thorough knowledge of production processes, equipment and operations in the interest of developing, improving and maintaining process and safety interlocksDevelop or modify Automation controls to achieve desired control processes, and troubleshoot systems to identify and resolve hardware or software deficienciesRecommend the use of company and contract resources equally to support projects deliverables and timelinesUtilize capital project guidelines to prioritize process automation projects from concept through project approval and deliveryDevelop and maintain documentation of automation hardware and software related to automation control systemsDemonstrate ability to work well within groups or with minimal supervision to meet department goalsCommunicate status updates and suggestions for improvementsPursue/maintain industry specific training and certifications relative to this position and for career advancementDemonstrate ability to effectively coach and develop other colleaguesAct as technical lead for modernization of a plants control systemsWork to provide governance and oversight of automation vendors delivering modernizationPossess ability to work in extreme temperatures; must have the ability to climb stairs, lift and move a minimum of 40 pounds, and sit and stand for long periods of time, and should be able to work in confined spaces and heightsAbility to travel as requiredRequired Qualifications10+ years of experience with process control in an industrial environmentExperience with Emerson DeltaV, Novatech D/3 systems, or Rockwell PlantPAx Distributed Control System (DCS) applicationsFamiliarity with Industrial Networks (ie. TCP/IP, ControlNet, DH+, Modbus, etc.) and Operational TechnologyKnowledge of Industrial Process Control including instrumentation, AC/DC Electrical systems, Piping & Instrument DiagramsAbility to troubleshoot, solve, and repair issues with control systems and work safely with and around AC & DC voltages up to 120VPreferred QualificationsA Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Computer Science, Automation, or another similar Engineering or technical disciplineExcited about this role but don’t meet every requirement listed? Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours. If hired, employees will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base pay (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
