Job Title: RN - PICU Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Pediatric Intensive Care Unit Duration: 7 weeks Shift: 12-hour Day Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 2 years of strong high acuity Pediatric ICU experience License: RN Certifications: BLS, PALS Must-Have: - EPIC experience - Experience with Artic Sun - EVDs, Camino device (ICP and temp monitoring device) - Belmont Rapid Infuser - Management of critical care vasoactive drip titration - Management of invasive lines ART lines/CVP - Aseptic and sterile techniques - Basic dressing changes - Ventilator and trach management - HOFV management - Oral/nasal suctioning - G-tube/J-tube management - Feeding tubes - Chest tubes - Epidurals - PCAs - Sedation and analgesic drip management - Foley insertion and management - Alaris & Medfusion pump management - Bedside procedures with providers - Discharge skills - CRRT experience - Ability/Competency to float to Pediatric CVICU discussed during interview Description: We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse for the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. The unit has 24 beds with an average patient census of 21-23. Candidates must be comfortable in a high acuity, fast-paced environment. Common patient types and diagnoses include respiratory issues, trauma, DKA, seizures, neurosurgical cases, acute/chronic renal failure, orthopedic and surgical conditions, transplants, complex medical cases, and blood disorders. Patient ratios vary based on acuity: 2:1, 1:1, and 1:2. The support team includes one CNA per day for unit secretary duties and nursing support needs, a unit secretary for each shift, a charge nurse available 24/7, phlebotomy services 24/7, IV/VAT Team 24/7, resource nurse availability, respiratory therapists available 24/7, intensivists on-site 24/7, residents in-house, and advanced practice providers in-house. Monitoring will be centralized and bedside. The technology and equipment used includes EMR: EPIC, IV Pumps: Alaris and Medfusion syringe pumps, medication dispensing: Omnicell, monitors from Philips, and additional equipment like Belmont Rapid Infuser, Accuvein, PIV Ultrasound, Artic Sun, Camino, EV-1000 Vigileo, I-stat, and Accuryn. Floating to Pediatric CVICU, NICU, Neonatal PCU, and General Peds may be required as needed. The unit culture emphasizes teamwork, trust, accountability, respect, and compassionately hard work.
