Description

American Traveler is hiring an LPN for a Behavioral Health unit requiring WV or compact license, 1+ year experience, and BLS certification.

Details

• Behavioral Health/Psych unit serving adult patients
• Patient ratio of 1:20
• Scheduled for 3x12-hour day shifts (7:00 AM-7:00 PM), weekdays with every other weekend
• Uses Avatar EMR
• Travelers fill in for shifts not covered by regular staff; blocked schedule requests cannot be accommodated

Requirements

• Current WV or compact LPN license required (license required if applicable); pending license acceptable
• Minimum 1 year of relevant nursing experience required
• BLS certification required
• CPI and First Aid certifications required (can be obtained during orientation)
• Charting system experience required
• Skills needed include blood glucose monitoring, medication administration (IM, SQ, oral, subcutaneous), and behavioral health care for conditions such as anxiety, bipolar disorder, depression, psychotic disorders, schizophrenia-spectrum disorders, substance use, and suicidal behavior
• Familiarity with physical hold protocols, psychoeducation, and seclusion protocols/procedures
• Fingerprinting must be completed in West Virginia 7-10 business days prior to start, per state requirement
• Proof of COVID and flu vaccination record required at orientation
• Minimum 3 manager or charge references within the past 2 years required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care including medication administration, blood glucose monitoring, and behavioral health interventions for adult psychiatric patients
• Orientation held on Mondays from 8:30 AM-4:30 PM; all required modules and CPI training must be completed prior to arrival or candidate will be turned away with no exceptions
• Approximately 8 hours of non-billable modules must be completed before start
• Scrubs provided in blue (navy or royal blue)
• Locals are accepted
• First-time travelers are accepted
• Perm employees of the facility cannot return as travelers
• Travelers may only work contracts for up to 1 year at this facility
• Holiday RTO requests limited to no more than 1 of the 3 major holidays
• Previous probationary actions on license considered on a case-by-case basis
