Lead Ophthalmic Technician

They play a central role in coordinating and overseeing the work of ophthalmic technicians and other staff to ensure the delivery of high-quality eye care services.Roles and ResponsibilitiesAbility to perform specialized eye exam testing while streamlining patient flowOther diagnostic testing may include: Visual fields, OCT, Corneal Topography, Venipuncture, etc..Conduct inventory of ophthalmic supplies, including pharmaceuticals and instruments on a regular basis and ensure compliance with CompEye procurement guidelines.Provides phone support with requests for prescription refills as authorized by the physicianTraveling to other clinics and/or may be on callAdhere to legal and regulatory requirements, such as HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability) guidelines, to maintain patient confidentiality and privacy.May perform other duties as necessary.Experience RequirementsMinimum of two (2) years of experience as an ophthalmic technician.One year experience in a leadership position required.Education RequirementsHigh school diploma or general education degree (GED); some college preferred.Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technologist (COMT) certification strongly preferred.Physical DemandsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
