RTO after booking is not allowed and cannot be worked out onsite. Any call offs or additional RTO on unit could possibly turn into a cancel and DNR. RNS should have/bring a stethoscope.

• Biotherapy Skills Required: Active Immunotherapy Specific/Non Specific, Cytotoxic Therapy & Recognize/manage side effects
• Chemotherapy Skills Required: Administration of chemotherapy, Body fluid handling post chemotherapy, IV push administration of chemotherapy, Management/disposal cytotoxic spills, Monitor chemotherapy, Oral Administration of chemotherapy & Recognize/communicate abnormal lab values
• Medications Skills Required: Antiemetic, Antitumor, Antibiotic, Corticosteroids, Neupogen & Hormonal therapy
• Oncologic Emergencies Skills Required: Anaphylaxis
• Pain Management Skills Required: IV push narcotic agents
• Patient Ratio Experience Required: 1:7
• Professional Knowledge & Skills Required: Care coordination, Isolation Precautions & Neutropenic precautions
• Psychosocial Care Skills Required: Patient/Family education and support
• Certs: BLS, Chemo (ONS/ONCC)
• RNS should have/bring a stethoscope

• Care of Patient With Skills: Bladder/Kidney Cancer, Brain cancer, Breast Cancer, Colorectal Cancer, Ear/Nose/Throat Cancers, Kidney Cancer, Leukemia/Blood Dyscrasias, Liver Cancer, Lung cancer, Melanoma, Multiple Myeloma, Lymphoma/Non-Hodgkins lymphoma, Ovarian Cancer/Uterine Cancer, Pancreatic Cancer & Prostate Cancer
• Chemotherapy Skills: Continuous Infusion of chemotherapy
• IV Therapy/Infusions Skills: Accessing Ports, Administration of coagulation factors, Administration of blood & blood products, Care and management of ports, Central line blood draw, Central Line/Implanted Line Care, Infusion pump management, Intravenous hydration/multivitamins, PICC line care & Starting and maintaining IVs
• Oncologic Emergencies Skills: Acute Tumor Lysis Syndrome (ATLS), Extravasation injury, Hemorrhage, Sepsis & Spinal Cord Compression
• Professional Knowledge & Skills: Foley catheter insertion/management & Phlebotomy skills
• Symptom management Skills: Alteration in skin and mucous membranes, Altered mental status, Constipation/diarrhea, Dysphagia, Edema, Nausea/vomiting & Neuropathy
• Work Experience - EPIC preferred, Community Hospital experience
• Certs: OCN

Job Details:

• Avg. Daily Census: 75-90; Our department has 80 treatment bays with a mix of beds and chairs. 63 Chairs & 17 Beds/Stretchers
• Shift: 40 Hours can be offered. Will accept 13 weeks. 10 hour days; 07:30 - 18:00
• RTO: 7 days max for AYA auto offer
• Call Requirement: None
• Float Requirement: None
• Weekend Requirement: 2 per 6 weeks/The 2 weekends vary depending on the volumes on our schedule. They would typically be 6-8H shifts. Weekends would be negotiable in order to meet their 40H/week.
• Patient Age Group: Adolescents, Adults & Geriatrics
• Patient Diagnoses: All cancer diagnosis, Classical hematology, Malignant hematology

Special Procedures/Unit Details:

• 1. Blood administration and monitoring
• 2. Medication administration and monitoring
• 3. Chemotherapy/immunotherapy administration (including intravenous, subcutaneous, intramuscular and intravesicular routes)
• 4. Central line management/lab draws
• 5. Therapeutic phlebotomy
• 6. Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter (PICC) placement
• 7. Clinical assessments and management of patients with blood disorders
• 8. Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy for oncologic purposes that are not provided in the inpatient setting
• 9. Clinical Research including Phase 1 trials

Special Equipment: Alaris infusion pump, Elastomeric ambulatory infusion pump, CADD Solis ambulatory infusion pump, Massimo vital machine, Phlebotomy scale & Amma scalp cooling device
