About the Position We are looking for a dedicated, motivation individual to join our safety team as a Safety Specialist. The main objective of the Safety Specialist is to assist in administering job site safety programs to maintain a safe and healthy work environment. By implementing and enforcing safety standards and regulations, the incumbent will be responsible for developing and managing safety programs. The ideal candidate is passionate about educating individuals on responsible and safe practices. Safety Specialist
The Safety Specialist reports to the Safety Manager and provides mentoring within the Safety Department. This position is responsible for the administration of the Company's job sites and workplace programs to maintain a safe, quality, healthy and environmentally acceptable work environment. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Conduct and document regular field crew audits/inspections. Conduct new hire orientation, driver evaluations, forklift training and initiate the distribution of initial PPE issue as well as fulfill field requests. Assist in identifying, documenting and recommending mitigation of hazardous/potentially hazardous conditions; follow through to ensure corrections have been made. Assist with incident investigations, injuries and property damage; including compiling data, taking photographs and completing proper documentation Compiles data, photographs, etc.; prepare all pertinent forms and reports per program procedures and federal, state, local regulations associated with all incidents and accidents. Review job site documents and permits for regulatory compliance and accuracy (i.e. PA-1 Call, Crew JSA, Lock Out Tag Out Clearances, Confined Space, etc....) as required Assists with employee rubber goods are changed out per OSHA and contractual guidelines. Assist with site-specific requirements to fulfill general contractors and host employers job safety field directives (i.e. safety stand-downs, disciplinary action, site-specific training) Conducts Job Hazard Analysis for specific tasks and focus on field hazard recognition/correction Track, inspect and facilitate maintenance for AED's, fire extinguishers, multi-gas direct reading tools. These duties and responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and scope of work being performed by this position. This is not a complete listing and other duties will be assigned based on the needs of the business and the needs of the Safety Manager, varying by location, within the business unit. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: College degree in a Safety related field or a combination of education and relevant job experience. OSHA 30 hour training in Construction within last 5 years preferred. Advanced safety certifications from BCSP (ASP, CSP, CHST, STS) desirable. CPR and First Aid Certification Maintain at a minimum a valid PA driver's license; Minimum 5 years of safety construction experience. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Leadership skills in mentoring and oversight of same level co-workers. Competent in using a computer and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Adobe, Word, Excel, etc.); Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, changing priorities as necessary Ability to work under time pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude Effective oral and written communication skills required for the position. Effective presentation and public speaking skills as required Strong organizational, record-keeping and follow-up skills Ability to interact effectively and professionally with all levels of employees, both management and staff alike, vendors, clients, and others.
